I can't be arsed going to see them at the Manchester Apollo. I have seen them already at a smaller venue and I will be seeing them again at Reading Festival so I am gonna give them a miss until they release some new stuff.

The Ferdinand might be busy on the other side of the world, but fear not, because they know that their UK and Irish work is not yet done.

I'll be seeing them live in less than a week with the Cure, so I guess I'll see how talented they really are (Interpol).

Yup, I have a lot of fun with the Franz. And certainly have no problem with Interpol...

Interpol are fucking excellent IMO. Franz are good, though some of their album gets a little boring a little too quickly. They were very good live though when I saw them. I will be seeing them again in a few weeks at the Reading Festival. Can't wait.

I'm on Em's side. I usually resist a band that has had that much exposure, but I kept hearing Take Me Out and Darts Of Pleasure and I eventually gave in. Its sharp, sophisticated, funky and really, really catchy. Take Me Out, Darts Of Pleasure, Dark Of The Matinee and Jacqueline are all ace.
I like it muchly.

I don't care what you all say, I love them! They are very derivative, but it's fun and I am can't stop dancing whenever I play DARTS OF PLEASURE - which is a lot. Plus, I adore some of the lyrics - especially in COME ON HOME (see my signature) - I know they aren't the Greatest Band Ever by any means, but what they do I think they do well. And they were fabulous live. They are clearly having a lot of fun, and that is very endearing.

I must add that while Modest Mouse shows a lot of signs of deriving heavily from the Pixies, they mostly manage to have their own sound. Issac Brock has admitted that there was a time where he wanted to sound exactly like the Pixies. I think he came closest to this with "Convenient Parking" from Lonesome Crowded West. Everything about that song, down to the drum sound, seems like it could have been a Surfer Rosa outtake. That shoutty chorus... "Con!-ven!-ient!... par-king!!!" It's a pretty good song because of how much it sounds like the Pixies.

Agree that Modest Mouse isn't all that great. But Teeth Like Gods Shoeshine is an incredibly awesome song.
I hear Talking Heads in Franz Ferdinand, too. There's a few songs on that album that have that "Girlfriend is Better" kinda vibe to them, if that makes any sense. In the matinee, it's better in the matinee...

I agree 100% for both Franz Ferdinand and Interpol. I don't understand what's so special about either of them. They do have their moments, but still...I just don't get it.

I bought the CD after listening to clips of it at Barnes and Noble while I was stoned. It sounded pretty kickass at that moment. But ever since, the album has seemed less and less amazing to me. It's got some moments, and there's traces of great influences like Pere Ubu, Television, and The Fall, but overall, I kind of have the same reaction to Franz Ferdinand that I have to Interpol... nothing all that special.
