Posted - 07/25/2004 : 19:12:06 literally every time i go to the grocery store, or any retail store to buy something, the cash register malfunctions when it's my turn in line. what usually happens is that the tape spool will need to be replaced becasue it has jammed or run out. or the register will somehow lock itself and the person will need to get a key from the manager. or, the total will somehow be wrong and they'll have to figure out how to fix it in the computer before i can get my change and leave.
which ever scenario, or combination of scenarios (the tape-changing is usually a constant) there's always a 2 to 5 minute delay.
it's gotten to the point where, the person behind the register will be apologizing to me and i'll say, "trust me, it's not you, it's me," and even apologize to other people in line.
does anyone have experience with this kind of thing? i don't know what to do.

Posted - 07/26/2004 : 13:07:27 Technology hates me.
My computer/msn decides to die/reboot/crash at key moments in downloading/conversation
My DVD player literally ate my copy of room on fire last week, shewed it in half, I've had to wait for my dad to burn me a copy because I'm too poor to re buy it at the moment, and it was a present. damn it.
My Spin drier got possesed last week and wouldn't stop even after I unplugged the fucker, it span all around my bathroom for at least 15 minutes 'till it gave up the ghost, this is a new spin drier too
My copy of forbidden toxic medicine actually turned out to be robert palmer. Most unimpressed was I?
I mean, what have I ever done to technology huh? apart from sometimes checking out it's internals on a sunday with my screwdriver because I is bored! Nothing!

I put out street lights as I walk or drive under them. It's happened for years and makes me wary of walking at night.
Often but not always, I take a walk at night, in my white suit and with a white hat. And each time my foot (I also wear white shoes) touches the sidewalk, it turns on a light.
Do you have the sensation of being followed sometimes? By someone with a trenchcoat and sunglasses?

Posted - 07/26/2004 : 08:01:36 If I am particulary stressed, upset or angry, without doubt the computer i am working on will crash or die. This could be at college, at home, at a friends, or at work. I seem to have a habit of crashing the work server as well, when im in a pissed off mood (which is often at work).
Could be just coincidence.
When I was a bit younger, and goign through some seriously fucked up times, I used to sit in my room, often in the dark, but occasionally with a candle or lamp on. I used to stare at the flame/bulb when i was sitting there, music blaring out, and being quite upset, and nine times out of ten I could make the flame go out, or the bulb blow. Sounds rididculous, but it did happen, all the time. And no, i didnt blow the candle out!
Few other bits and piece, but these are thigns which I knwo why they happened
Just thought I'd throw that in there... |

Whatever's negative for you is usually positive for someone else.
i'd like to believe this, but in my case it seems to be pretty negative across the board. negative for me, for the person at the register, for the people in line behind me, and for the manager who, inevitably, has to come out from his or her office to solve the issue. it's just the black hole of time being sucked away from all of our lives while we sit there together and watching a cashier fumble with reciept paper, or look for a key, or try to figure out how to void a sale, and then, inevitably, wait for a manager to walk (in slow motion) from the back of the store, etc etc..
i don't know how it can be positive.

Posted - 07/25/2004 : 21:03:38 I share mereubu's malady, but I have noticed it is only when I am fairly focused (pissed off, worried, or excited) about something in particular. I have found one streetlight on my route home that is extremely reliable in this regard, and it seems to have no bearing on which car I drive or the time of the evening. Just state of mind. Also, I cannot wear digital watches, as the LCDs or internals stop working within about 3 months. Yet, I chose technology as a profession.
