My favorite French artist, and one of the most popular here, is Serge Gainsbourg. Are you familiar with his work, and what do you think of it?

i'm just sayin', if you're talking about "je t'aime... moi non plus" it is a common misconception that it's he and Bridget Bardot. he originally recorded it with her and she thought it was too racy and refused to let it be released. so he re-recorded it with Jane Berkin.. unless you're talking about another one. but either way, it is silly indeed. that song cracks me up.
it's even more silly when you find out what the lyrics are :

Then why not devote a song to a sort of love much more commom these days: physical love? "Je t'aime" isn't an obscene song, it's very reasonable to me, and fills this gap. Its explanation is that girls say "I love you" during sex, and the man with their ridiculous virility doesn't believe them. They think the girls only say it as a result of enjoyment, of pleasure. I guess i believe the girls, or maybe that's a result of my fear. But that's also an aesthetic step, a search of absoluteness" |

At that festival we played in the Pyrenees a couple weekends ago we did the Javanaise remake, skittered in and out of a couple of other songs doing it and had fun with it, the first time i sang in French.

sry to hijack the thread here but is 'autour de lucie' popular in france? how are they categorized over there? i picked up on them while listening to our late great (r.i.p.) college radio station and have a few of their albums. for me, they're great to listen to and I think valerie leulliot is a babe.
