This sounds like it would be THE exhibit to see if I could only get out to California. Anyone planning on seeing it?

i also saw the body worlds exhibition when it was in london last time -it luckily coincided with a visit from nz.

i went with my wife and she was absolutely fascinated by it all...she loves stuff like that, but the most disturbing thing about the entire day was my wife saying that seeing all that meat made her hungry.

i definitey recommend going and seeing it - it most certainly is eye-opening.
it's not for everyone and lots of people i saw there were quite visibly shaken and upset by the whole thing.

it's been in the news again recently for all the wrong reasons - accusations that the main guy stole or bought bodies of dead prisoners etc to use....
all adds to the mystery tho doesn't it.

crouton, it's basically this little "museum" in Hollywood that has various death-related displays. there's a serial killer section, car accident section, war etc..

in my opinion, it a little too shock-valuey . it's VERY explicit. photos of car accidents, murder victims, video footage of people being assasinated etc.. and doesn't really do much else but show this stuff.

but some of the displays were interesting. they have an actual bunk bed from the Heaven's Gate cult, original art work from famous killers like Charles Manson and Richard Ramirez, letters they wrote etc..

instead of being a life-affirming, learning experience i just felt numb and disgusted afterwards and kind of violated. i got the feeling that the guy who runs it gets off on the fact that everyone walks out there feeling shitty. but that's just me.

Floop...would you elaborate on this "Museum of Death"? I'm very interested now..

i get the feeling that this is deviant pornography masquerading as a "science exhibit".. it seems like the freaks will be coming out of the woodwork to see this.

not to say i don't want to see it. and it does sound interesting. but what Tre describes sounds a bit spooky.

have you ever been to the Museum Of Death in Hollywood BLT?

no it really isn't that bad at all, they're hardly like people, they look more like mannequins, becuase they're plasticated the colouring is really vivid, so that helps with the not really real feeling of it.

It's here in L.A. now. I'm debating whether I want to see it or not. I've seen a couple autopsies in person and I doubt it will be that bad, but still...yikes.

O.k. I guess I should elaborate, I saw it and it was pretty intense. It's hard to describe, you kinda have to see it. It was hard to think of them as corpses, but the smell was there even if a little faint.

Some of it was beautiful, he human body truely a work of art in itself, he stripped them all of their skin so you won't recognise people, the varying layers of the pieces was fascinating, muscle skeletal, there was one intact venous system which was just stunning.

The famous piece with the plasticated horse was huge, breath-takingly huge.

It's a very educational experience, and to take away from the seriousness of the subject matter some pieces were pure comedy, the majician riding his rib cage, the man who tipped his hat.. very funny

But I was disturbed by some of the pieces in the foetal room, the pregnant lady pose was uneedingly erotic, as an anatomical piece it was weird to see the way a foetus can distort the internal female anatomy, but to have her lying in a come to bed pose? I dunno, that bugged me, what bugged me more was the fact she'd been tampered with, someone had made up her lips and eyelids... wrong very wrong.

They also had foetus in jars at various stages of development, I'd always been very pro abortion until this, it made me think a little harder, not change my stance so much but made it a harder thing to face if (touch wood) it's a thing I ever have to consider.

But I would say to anyone to go to see it, it's the weirdest thing I ever saw. And we saw gunther outside the exhibition in his cowboy hat.. what a guy, heh, I think he's a little crazy
