Posted - 07/22/2004 : 05:39:13 For those of you who (might) care - the great Chuck Prophet's new album, due out in September, features "additional production from Eric Drew Feldman". Chuck used to be the guitarist in the late, lamented Green on Red. Some of Frank's work, especially on his most recent albums, reminds me of Green on Red. Anyway, Chuck has released a number of excellent solo albums since the demise of Green on Red, and judging by the co-conspirators mentioned in the following press release the new album promises to be top-notch:

Things you may or may not know about Chuck Prophet… o New album, Age Of Miracles, features members of Calexico, Josh Rouse co-conspirators (James "Hags" Haggerty, Mark Pisapia) and studio wiz Dave Trumfio (Wilco, Ok Go, Mekons, My Morning Jacket).
o It was recorded in Tucson, San Francisco, and Nashville; mixed by Roger Moutenot (Yo La Tango, Beulah, Lou Reed) with additional production from Eric Drew Feldman (PJ Harvey, Captain Beefheart, Frank Black).
o The September 7th release of his second album for New West coincides with the beginning of a tour with the Old 97's.
o Chuck's previous album, No Other Love, included the Top-5, AAA-Radio single, "Summertime Thing," earning him a much larger following here in the US and two national TV appearances: The Late Late Show w/Craig Kilborn and Austin City Limits.
o Chuck and band opened for Lucinda Williams on tour at her invitation in 2002 (she also ranked No Other Love as the one record to buy that year).
o Has had songs covered by: Solomon Burke, Kim Richey, Cyndi Thomson, Jim Dickinson, Mr. T Experience and most recently Heart.
o Over the years, has played guitar on recordings by: Cake, Kelly Willis, Kim Richey, Jim Dickinson, Scapegoat Wax and Warren Zevon.
o A long-time favorite in Europe, the press has waxed rhapsodic thusly: "In a perfect world, Chuck Prophet would be inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame tomorrow." - Keith Cameron, The Guardian London … "The missing link between Paul Westerberg and Bob Dylan" - Q Magazine … "As close to the genuine article as a white boy can get" - Melody Maker
o Was an original member of the country-meets-folk-meets-too-many-drugs Americana frontiersmen Green On Red.
o Was born in Whittier, California (a suburb of L.A.) and currently resides in San Francisco.
o His records have been translated into 27 languages in 38 countries.
o Neither a dog nor a cat person, Chuck recently gave up smoking and developed a taste for Skittles.
