Posted - 07/09/2004 : 15:07:28 I picked this game up a few weeks ago for PS2 and it has rekindled my complete love of Mega Man, what a great series of games. Anyone else dig Mega Man? These games are also pretty tough, but I'm almost through the marathon of beating them all in order. Capcom has so many great old video games they can do collections and they're about to do a Street Fighter 2 set with the characters from every Street Fighter 2 game and the ability to use the various versions from each game against ones from others should be great.

Posted - 07/12/2004 : 08:59:24 Has anyone here ever played the Mega Man Legends games? I understand that the main character is CALLED Mega Man, and LOOKS LIKE Mega Man, but isn't the same as the Mega Man from the regular series.

Posted - 07/12/2004 : 08:40:18 I've started playing Mega Man Battle Network too, it's a pretty damn cool RPG for the Game Boy the battle system is actually really cool.

Posted - 07/12/2004 : 08:34:14 Dragon Warrior Monsters is pretty fun. It's kind of like the earlier DW games, in that it doesn't have much plot, but there's a lot of monster-fighting and level-building. You get to win over and command monsters, which is cool.

Posted - 07/12/2004 : 08:12:44 I heard the Gamecube version is a bit buggy though and that you have to use a stick controller which I just can't imagine doing with Mega Man. I thought about picking up Dragon Warrior Monsters a few times but never did, how is it so far through other than being like Pokemon. I can't wait for the Street Fighter Collection to come out I'm just hoping some of my friends enjoy it too so I have some people to play against, I'm getting so tired of all the 3D fighting games, they just don't feel the same.

Posted - 07/12/2004 : 04:14:57 It is out on the `Cube; that's the one I got. It seemed wrong to buy MegaMan for the Playstation!

Posted - 07/11/2004 : 12:52:34 I'm really not very good at video games in general, but I still love them. Really, I'm a lot better at games like Dragon Warrior, where good reflexes and coordination aren't required. I got DW free from Nintendo Power as well. Has anyone played the later games in the series? The second one is kind of annoying, but 3 and 4 are both really good. 5 and 6 weren't released outside Japan (where the series is called Dragon Quest; it became "Warrior" in the States because of copyright issues with TSR, I believe), but I've recently been playing Dragon Warrior Monsters for Game Boy. It's kind of Pokémon-like, although a bit less on the cute side.
Getting back to the subject of the post, the Mega Man games were really cool, if they did get a bit repetitive after a while. The third is probably my favorite.
Am I correct in thinking that the Anniversary Collection is coming out for GameCube as well?

Posted - 07/11/2004 : 09:12:37 Yeah I remember the free copy of Dragon Warrior well, and remember as a console gamer how insanely different a game like Dragon Warrior was, I don't think I've seen a game that seemed so completely different to what I thought of as video games since. Except for games like Seaman that are purposely trying to be weird, not that there's anything wrong with that. Chu Chu Rocket is kind of different I guess, but under the manic Japanese cat and mouse stuff it's a pretty normal kind of puzzle game, might I also say that I am the mouse master.

Posted - 07/11/2004 : 09:08:07 Mega Man was indeed a great series...I loved the music in some of those levels! I think my favorite was the music in the Freeze Man or Ice Man level in Mega Man 2 or 3. I think it's an actual song, but I'm not sure. I remember a friend bringing in a copy of Nintendo Power with Megan Man 3 on the cover. I quickly subscribed after that (and received a free copy of Dragon Warrior!). Ahhh, those were the days.
I guess I just wasn't made for these times. |

Posted - 07/11/2004 : 08:47:32 Yeah, and all of them are pretty well done I think it's Mega Man 4 or 5 where they have some really crazy ass stages where you're on the ceiling instead of the floor and stuff. By the end of Mega Man 1 though I was just starting to remember how hard those games can be and they only get harder the next couple of games, then they make stuff easier and easier it seems.

Posted - 07/11/2004 : 06:43:54 Just got it and what a flashback! I'm halfway through the first one. Amazing how it holds up compared to current games. Good concept and design--classic!

Posted - 07/11/2004 : 03:53:04 Yeah Mega Man was great.
That Street Fighter game sounds excellent. I have had a few different versions of it in my time, and they have all been fantastic.
