Here's a game we were playing at work today. You're allowed five bands. You can bring one person back from the dead and reform one band. You can pick a certain era of a band if you like.

Heres mine:

The Clash
Pixies
Sonic Youth
Mogwai
Godspeed! You Black Emperor

This is of course liable to change, but it sounds quite good already.

Kind regards,
Simon

What about the Smiths minus Morrissey?

Excellent post!

1. (Opener) - Bowie from Aladdin Sane/Ziggy
2. Stooges circa 1972
3. Cheap Trick - In Heaven Tour
4. Velvet Underground
5. Pixies (closer)

WolfManMikeLonely Posted - 07/05/2004 : 12:41:54
How about if it was all picks of bands that are currently together? That's a bit tougher I think.

1. mclusky
2. The Unicorns
3. The Bouncing Souls
4. Pixies
5. Sonic Youth

1. Johnny Thunders(with Walter Lure, Billy Rath and Marc Bell on drums I guess)
2. Richard Hell and the Voidoids
3. Bob Dylan
4. mclusky
5. Frank Black with whoever(I think the best pick would be with the Catholics though, from the stuff I've heard from the Pixies reunion they were even doing better renditions of Pixies songs than the actual band.)

Stone Roses (can't believe no one has said The Smiths yet)
Frank Black and the Catholics (still together)
The Cult (still together)
Nirvana
S.N.F.U.

reformation is hard (The Jam, Husker Du, The Police, Ned's, Wonderstuff.....)

"That's Nuckin' Futs"

Pixies (circa Trompe Le Monde)
Nirvana
The Fall (any lineup! Blimey, what a choice)
The Secret Hairdresser (Sooper cat powered band from Bury St. Edmunds, no Chan Marshall connection)

I can't think of another I'd like to see at a festival. I'm not much of a fan of festivals. Maybe PJ Harvey. Some loud, festival-ly band. Sonic Youth perhaps.
I was going to say the Catholics, but I'd much rather see them in a dingy little venue.

Don't know, but they haven't officially broken up so I say they're fair game.

Hey, how'd I break the rules? I had one band reform (Pink Floyd) and one person back from the dead (Jim Morrison). I was going to do Beach Boys in place of Brian Wilson but I figured that would be more people back from the dead so I didn't.

I thought you might like Queen Simon. You'll love Finsbury Park on Saturday.

They had this on MTV2 recently. Is that where you got it from?

OK, here is mine.

Pixies
Nirvana
Weezer
Blondie
Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Thats some stretching of the rules to breaking point there, but I'll let you off.
I was tempted to put Queen, I think that would be ace, but I put my reform and resurrection into one band and if push came to shove, I think I'd rather have seen the Clash.

Kind regards,
Simon
