All of the Waits fanatics over here, like me, will be happy to know that an October 5th release date has been set for the new album Real Gone!

See it here:

He he, Tom Waits and Iggy Pop are really great in this film...

However, I must say I drink a lot of coffee, and I never miss having a cigarette, probably because I drink coffee in the morning etc. But I must say that it is really hard to have a beer without thinking of cigarettes...

I'll wait the winter before I buy his new album. You can't really enjoy Tom Waits before November ;)

Going to see "Coffee and Cigarettes" this weekend (I think my year-long abstinence from smoking is going to be heartily tested during this movie). Now a new Waits album is coming out. This summer is really starting to kick ass.

I don't know how to do news groups or whatever that is, but also, for anyone interested, the ULTIMATE collection of rare songs, a 5-disc set called Tales From the Underground, is up on STG--http://www.sharingthegroove.org/msgboard/showthread.php?s=&threadid=76326&highlight=tales+from+the+underground

Oh, TarTar, you're forgetting his brilliant cover of the Eagles' "Old 55."

heh..funny Tar.. =P

If you have access to Usenet, in alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.indie is a 3 album set of TW stuff called 'Spare Parts'...no idea what it's based on, but lots of cool stuff on there..

I also like his cover of Rod Stewart's "Downtown Train".

"You gotta watch the mota, Thurston. Yr fuckin memory just goes out the window."
