I'm spreading the Cure damn it!! I just joined the Cure street team, so I'm going to be promoting them alot. If there was a Frank Black street team I'd whore him out too. But here you go.

Posted - 07/03/2004 : 13:13:53 I keep listening to 'end of the world' over and over, such a quintissential cure popper! I do think they've gained some energy (maybe its the hormone replacement therapy for the menopause--that post nearly killed me :D) since Bloodflowers and I love it. I haven't learned all the names of the songs, but I think its #8 or 9 that I really dig too (the one with the signature wild hooting). The other trax are cool but they haven't gotten their claws in me all the way. I saw the Cure on "Pepsi Smash" (i promise accidentaly) - It was super weird because the other 'bands' on the show were Jessica Simpson, New found glory, and some other crap. Well.. Black eyed peas were alright.. but it was mostly shit. Some fake tan blonde bimbo interviewed Robert Smith before their show at HFS ; he made a comment about it being hot backstage.. bimbo goes "heehee! that's because i'm back here right?!". . R.smith says something polite and bimbo giggles on. So weird. |

Posted - 07/02/2004 : 17:35:41 Ive got the new album.... only listened to it a couple of times (which is never enough for a Cure album)... but certainly sounds alot fresher than the last two that were released. In fact it's their best work since Wish.... and Roberts vocals is back to his best. At times I thought that his vocals on WMS and Bloodflowers were below par, which is unusual for a Cure album.
Anyone heard this album yet?

Posted - 06/30/2004 : 08:21:45 Just bought the Cure last night and I'm listening to it right now. It has a very early cure feel to it. Sounds like a serious winner. Only two tunes in, and I'm like "holy shit!" Thanks for the heads up Dark dude!

Posted - 06/27/2004 : 13:01:30 i saw them last week at imola and they sucked. as a long time fan i was pretty dissapointed. the only cool thing about their gig is that i got a press pass and saw them from the backstage (and i am still pissed with my friend that arrived late and didn't make it in time to give me the pass for the pixies gig). i wouldn't pay to see r.smith backed by a band of kids dressed like the calling.

Posted - 06/26/2004 : 00:12:06 I'm gonna see them in Illinois. But I'll be at the second stage while Muse and The Cooper Temple Clause play. I don't wanna miss The Rapture, though. |

Posted - 06/25/2004 : 21:23:09 We almost bought tix to see them in Cincinnati, but thought better of it. That town can get pretty damn lame, and I wasn't sure it was worth 150ish bucks (for decent seats) to see them since I stopped buying their stuff after Disintegration.
Then this thread, and a recent relistening to "Seventeen Seconds", got me to reevaluating the situation, and the fence is no longer being straddled. I have never seen one of the most important bands of my teenage years live in concert, and that needs to change. See you in Cuyahoga! |

Posted - 06/25/2004 : 15:45:50 Why are all the cool bands doing Festivals? I wanted to see the Pixies and the only way I got to see them was at Coachella. I want to see the Cure and the only way I can see them is in the Curiosa festival, what the hell??

Posted - 06/25/2004 : 15:32:34 The Cure in Orange is my favourite live video by any band by a long way, but I have yet to see them live. The only show they seem to be doing in the UK this year is the Move festival at Manchester and I am already booked to go to T in the Park in Scotland that weekend to see the Pixies, PJ harvey amongst others. However, I will catch them when they are next in London at a reasonable sized gig. |

Posted - 06/25/2004 : 15:08:15 I lost my virginity while "disintegration" played, 16 years later i'll be at the gorge in george WA. Maybe I'll get lucky, isn't that what they mean by "festival seating" anyways.

Posted - 06/25/2004 : 15:05:00 Just watched the vid. Sounds good. I was a huge Cure fan up until Desintegration. I got turned off when the burn outs that used to listen to Tesla started coming up to me telling me they like the cure. Head on the Door was an amazing album. The video brings back lot of memeories for me. I think I'll check it out.

LOL! Well, if you do that then I will go get a mohawk, dye it blue, and wear bracelets up to my elbows, AND put on a pair of combat boots. Sound like a fair trade?

Yah... I think I can unquestionably hold Robert Smith directly responsible for my strange fascination with men that wear eyeliner.
