Posted - 06/18/2004 : 11:16:23 I doubt it, but is anyone going to any of the shows that are part of AthFest http://www.athfest.com/ tonight or tomorrow in Athens, Georgia, USA? If so and you want to meet up, email me at model_consumer@charter.net. I'll be checking out a couple shows on the outdoor stages tonight and tomorrow as well as some of the club shows both nights. I'm not a creepy weirdo and expect that anyone (if by very remote chance anyone reading this is going) emailing me isn't either. I don't participate in " the scene " or anything and my coworkers generally aren't into music or whatever, so although my wife will accompany to some of the shows, for others I will probably be alone. It would be nice if a fellow FB.net person that may happen to be there wanted to say hello. More than likely none will attend but I thought I'd post this just in case. In fact I meant to post it yesterday or earlier but kept forgetting because I've been keeping myself fairly busy... yadda yadda yadda. Alright, everyone have a good weekend and forgive me for interrupting.

Posted - 06/21/2004 : 08:27:08 Well, it's too bad I missed it, but then again, I have to come up with $60 for Lollapalooza, which I WILL be going to no matter what, so it's probably just as well that I didn't go. Are you planning on going to Lollapalooza?

I don't know about obsessive, but if that means that I try my best to see CVB whenever they come within 7 or 8 hours of me, then I guess I'm obsessive...
Jonathan Segel gave me Lowery's setlist, but I don't have it in front of me. They played an interesting crossection of material from all the albums. Not as long of a show as on the first reunion tour, but that's because they only played one set this time around (Cracker opened with a little over an hour of music).
They played two new songs which will be on the upcoming stufio album "New Roman Times", and they would have played a third as their final tune, but some dumbass 37 year old dorks decided to pretend they were reliving their college days by "fake moshing" during the encore – you know, jumping into people with an idiotic smile plastered on their face that just screams, "Look at me! I'm not as old as I thought I was! I've still got it! I'M COOL AGAIN!!! (I hope I don't sprain my ankle)"
When the band saw this pathetic display, they stopped dead after two of the planned three songs and split.
The new songs sound very good, by the way. They're very much in the spirit of early Camper like "Telephone Free Landslide Victory" or "II & III."
Highlights for me were "Circles," "Wasted," "All Her Favorite Fruit," and their country cover of The Clash's "White Riot."

Posted - 06/20/2004 : 19:27:21 Well...I didn't end up going because my friend who I was planning on going with had a change of plans and went to lake Hartwell with his family, so I decided not to go by myself. I'm not an obsessive fan so it wasn't that big of a deal for me to miss it (I'm actually kind of relieved that I didn't have to pay for tickets). So was it good? Did you happen to make a setlist? Hey, I drove up from Savannah to catch Cracker and Camper at The Variety last night. Where were you situated, and what did you think of the shows and the new CVB tunes?
I was front row directly in front of Lowery getting spat upon during his more aggressive vocal moments.
How about that tantrum he pulled? I thought for a minute he was seriously considering going over and kicking the monitor guy's ass!

Posted - 06/18/2004 : 11:51:18 I'm thinking about going but I doubt I will; the only band I would like to see is Camper van Beethovan and I'm planning on seeing them tomorrow at the Variety Playhouse, which will be much longer and MUCH more enjoyable, and Athens is over an hour from where I live, but I may yet decide to go. Maybe I'll go over there and eat at the Grit tonight (that always makes it well worth the trip!) and then see Camper.
