Anyone like these? I had Rome and Go Forth which I thought were ok. Then this week I bought inches (their singles collection) and its downright unbelievable. Dance punk was never this good. Im suprised no one on here mentions them they aren't a million miles off the pixies particularly their older stuff.

That was quite cool actually. I like Zane. I know he can be a bit annoying sometiems 'cos he can be a kiss-ass but I think he is OK. I hope you think better of him now.

Thanks for taking the time to type that out by the way, twas indeed your brush with fame.

Well I used to run a hives website back when I first discovered them, at which point there were no sites at all dedicated to the hives. Anyway 3 years on some legal mumbo jumbo and a switch from my server back to shitty angelfire and I gave up. However I left an old design up for people to look at the stuff that still worked. The other day I recieved this.

I'd thank to thank you for giving me some decent research for my forthcoming i.v. with The Hives.
Been having a nightmare tracking stuff down through official channels. Your shit is very thorough.
X
Zane 'ever annoying' Lowe.

Zane Lowe
BBC Radio 1

I replied with:

You are most welcome, it used to be a damn sight better but I kinda lost

interest. If you need any more info im sure I can help. Also, if you
don't
mind, could you let us know when the interview will air, I'd be
interested
in hearing it. I'd apologise for calling you annoying but Im sure you've
had
worse insults than that...

To which he replied with:

Haha! That is true...I have. The interview is scheduled to air with a
session in the last week of July. Alright...no more swipes eh?
Cheers...mate.

My brush with fame. That site got me in touch with a record boss and numerous label officials. Looking to give me videos and stuff. Twas cool while it lasted

Can you explain this whole Zane Lowe connection please? In full detail. Thanks.

I was quite impressed to be honest. Guess its one of those things. Seeing as this is a thread about what I think is cool, it matter not one jot what you say Homers pet monkey...if that os your real name

I've been side tracked recently but I shall continue this thread soon.

I can't be bothered starting a thread for this. For those of you who know who Zane Lowe is, he e-mailed me the other day thanking me for helping him with research with the hives. Now my site has never been to friendly towards Mr Lowe so he commented on this then when I replied he ripped me for using .... to much. The fucker.

Nice radio tunes but nothing more than that. Stick them in the bin with starsailor and all the other radio friendly 'rock' bands, drivel. As for their name its alright reminds me of soap not particularly inventive though is it?

Listen to the first album. All of it though. It works so much better as a whole album. You'll find that your comparisons are wide of the mark to say the least.

The last albums I bought were The Concretes self-titled debut and '13 In My 31' by My Red Cell.

Television is an early punk band from the 70's really. I think you pegged me pretty well for my mood when I bought those, but I also bought a Hank Williams DVD the same day. I bounce back and forth wildly, I'm mostly listening to mclusky stuff more than anything else I might buy and I've even been getting back into some heavy stuff lately.

There used to be a fair amount of CVB MP3's up at their website, but it looks like they've since been taken down. Good band, although there probably IS a certain amount of "look at me" weirdness to their music. But hey, the Pixies have some of that, too.

Gypsy: I had trouble getting hold of anything by camper van whatsesface and the martinis. I have however heard both of them once before and after looking at their titles....
American psycho is a decent film all be it poorly acted and some cringey plot elements. Decent amount of gore, all to shiny for me. Doesnt strike me as immediately Hollywood as it could have done, for that it is applauded. People say the book is far more gorey. We need more blood in cinema.

GypsyDeath your tastes range and appear to be alternative possibly to the point of 'look at me', not bad though

I'll offend more people tomorrow, for now. Good night.

Wolman. I downloaded a track entitled glory by television. Nifty stuff, would I be right in saying its from the 80's? Can't say I've seen the sonic youth dvd im afraid but I have a couple of albums. This one is a sketchy answer but:

WolfManMikeLonely your tastes are 80's orientated typically studenty fodder

Now that I think about it, my last CD purchase might have actually been a used copy of Sloan's Between the Bridges.

Last CD: I haven't bought a CD for ages... the last album I got was Hope Of The States - The Lost Riots.
Last DVD: The Who - The Kids Are Alright.

Dismiss that, punk, and I'll start on Mclusky.

Anyone else think Wolfman's sig comes into its own on this thread?

Well no cos its not the last DVD you bought. Predictable

I'd never heard of this band before so I downloaded a song called, All my little words, its not from the album in question but....
Bored me, accoustic stuff, don't like the guys voice girls voice complimented the song nicely though. Dull.

Vovat Im afraid I deem your taste: Dull and Predictable

Disclaimer
Im aware its not my position to say what someones taste is so if your easily offended please don't put forth your last cd and dvd purchases. If however you can see this is just a bit of fun, well ya know.
