Are there any of you here? I think maybe two or three. Well, if you aren't busy on Friday night - one of my best friends is having a CD release party at the Milky Way in JP (http://www.milkywayjp.com/). It's a show with three bands - Devil Music, Cul de Sac, and my friends band, The Invisable Rays. I am pretty sure they are all like rock/techno instrumental bands. IR use samples from old monster movies. It should be fun. Maybe I'll see you there?

EDIT: Here is the description from the Milky Way site -

Devil Music, Cul de Sac, Invisible Rays
Often dubbed as "post-rock" but infinitely more versatile, these bands defy standard conventions and continue to persevere and create outside of Boston‘s traditional rock scene. Don't get caught thinking you need a singer to create compelling music, these bands each have created their own style using unique sounds, innovative instruments, and samples from cult films. Cul de Sac are already legendary, Devil Music is getting raves across the country and one of the best bands in town, and the Invisible Rays are like a heady cross between surf music and a spy movie score.

Time: 9pm
Cost: $7

A big shout-out to my Boston/New England brethren (& sistren?). I'd love to see a lil' get-together similar to other cities when the Pixies come around. Y'know, in 2007 or whatever. FRANK! Why have you forsaken us??? Oh well, save the best for last.

never really thought much of karaoke before i went to the milky way. some of the folks who preform there have acts that are actually quite good.

it inspired me to quit my job and create an act of my own. my wife and i now travel a little circuit living off cash prizes we win. the open road, smoky bars, and polyester from here to the moon. we now have it all.

anyway... it is nice to know that the things i wasted my time doing for years are still available for another generation of slack-asses.

I'm sure it could be many things, I don't know. But my friend rules.

Er, okay.

Mroocore, It was actually (Mary!) Mary-oke. Ran by Marybeth. I think they still do it.
