Posted - 05/31/2004 : 15:37:56 I ordered the first season DVD last week. http://www.overstock.com/cgi-bin/d2.cgi?PAGE=PROFRAME&PROD_ID=683252 I can't wait to get it! This is my kind of comedy, weird as hell. Granted some of it sucks, but when it's good, it's the best. Kevin McDonald and Bruce McCulloch are my two favorites. I can't figure out why they haven't done much else that is noteworthy. Anyone ever see Brain Candy?

Posted - 06/02/2004 : 02:08:03 i always liked bruce as the flying pig who would entertain people waiting in massive lines for atms and such.. Squealing giddily, gliding around, calling "hey hey hey, look at me!!!!" well... until that.. horrible.. gruesome.. *pause*.. accident when flying pig became fatally tangled in some electrical wires. (cries) didn't they eat him?
Kevin McDonald was my favorite whenever it was that I first started watching it. But I don't remember why. |

I actually am looking forward to the release of later seasons. It took a while for them to find their roots, and get really funny.

Just kidding, I've actually been in a tranny bar in Boston a few times. I forget the name of the place. It was in Chinatown, then it closed down. A real seedy one too. Very interesting scene.

Also, does anyone know which season had the "Nobody likes the bass player" bit? Not their most radical piece, but one I haven't seen in awhile and would love to be able to quote at band practice.

Posted - 06/01/2004 : 08:19:38 A true story about Brain Candy...In my youth I managed a video store. Part of the job was helping people find "something good to watch". I was trying to push Brain Candy on one of the hipper regulars. To really sell it I started doing the cancer boy routine with "I don't have it so bad; my brother was born with his heart outside of his body". Apparently, my customer also had a brother who was born with his heart outside of his body, and did not see the humor. Ignoring that, I then repeated the line. He did not rent the movie. Boy, am I stupid.

Posted - 06/01/2004 : 03:24:15 Scott Thompson was funny as hell playing 'Danny Husk'...But I am really fond of Bruce Mccullough's short 'dark' films; "The Wigstore", "The Eradicator", and "Sausage Factory"....the KIDS really were brilliant....you can tell that Mr.Show were heavily influenced. I got to see them in their farewell tour in 94....it was great. |

Posted - 05/31/2004 : 18:31:15 Ever see the skit where Kevin McDonald is happily married with a gorgeous wife but he keeps having these erotic dreams about his older, mustached, overwieght, hispanic maid? The dream scene when they're in the shower, and he runs his hand down her back and there's a big patch of hair just above her ass? Hilarious!

Enjoy your DVD--you have my envy. I could watch KITH reruns all day. |

Posted - 05/31/2004 : 18:19:01 "Brain Candy" was a riot. Kids in the Hall was usually pretty funny - I loved "Chicken Lady", among others.

Posted - 05/31/2004 : 18:11:58 I don't recognize shows by their seasons. I really enjoyed the skit in which everyone did weird things becuase the writer had written the script in haste and had no time to fix the spelling errors. |

Posted - 05/31/2004 : 16:15:20 I never really liked Kids in the Hall. There was never anything that really grabbed me as being worth a laugh. Brain Candy was good...it was entertaining, but I didn't laugh my ass off.

Yeah, Scott Thompson drove that shit into the ground. If it was funny it would be one thing, but most of the time it was just uncomfortable to watch. Really ruined the show in my opinion. I'd try to get my brother or some buddy of mine to sit through an episode hoping to catch something funny, but usually they would just sit there in eery silence staring at me like I'm some freak for liking the show. I didn't mind the premise in the movie though. I thought it was hilarious where he was so gay but in such denial.
