Posted - 05/26/2004 : 13:38:48 ...and I say "great!" I really didn't like them at all. I remember their performance on SNL a couple years ago and IMO, they were awful! I figure, if you're going to appear on TV, this is your chance to maybe expand your fanbase and get a few more CDs sold. But the songs they picked...OY VEY!
Anyway, good riddance to phishy rubbish.

Posted - 05/28/2004 : 23:25:16 This can only mean one thing: set your watches for a reunion tour in twelve years (or something like that. I guess the lack of certainty ruins the "set your watches" bit but hey...)

Posted - 05/28/2004 : 21:19:58 Yes, unfortunately there are still hippies about. When I saw Dylan there were a bunch of hippies there, flowers in their hair spinning around like morons.

Posted - 05/28/2004 : 15:25:12 I still see it as a good call. Nothing good can come from a band like the String Cheese Incident, except maybe their ticket system, anything to rival ticketmaster is nice.

One of my students asked to be excused from class for a week so he could follow String Cheese Incident. I flat out said no. Later in the semester, I cancelled class for a week "due to illness" so I could see a bunch of BF+theCs shows. My dirty, hypocritical secret. |

Posted - 05/27/2004 : 18:31:23 I'll be spending about five weeks in Burlington this summer. Where can I expect to see some good shows? Any cool, intimate venues?

A friend of mine wants to go to a festival in Nashville that's nothing but these shit bands. Jam bands my ass, I don't want to watch these stoners dick around on guitar, much less pay to do so. I almost saw String Cheese Incident because I wanted to see the opening act(The Flaming Lips) but in the end decided I'd wait for the Flaming Lips to play with someone else I would actually like to hear. The same friend that wants to go to that festival followed String Cheese Incident around on tour, I think that would be like hell for me, seriously.

Posted - 05/27/2004 : 17:01:00 I kinda liked their "Bouncing 'Round the Room" song.

I remember waking up to that song once. (In '95?)
Very pleasant memory.

Posted - 05/27/2004 : 16:53:53 I was born in Burlington, Vermont. I spent the first 5 years of my life there. I've been back a number of times since moving to Michigan. But it's been some time now. Last time I was in VT was summer of 1999. I need to get back out there.

The Dead is tired jams - yawwwwwn!
Phish is at least quirky and upbeat with their music and I actually enjoy quite alot of it. Although since 97 their live show has gone straight down the shitter and I commend them for calling it quits before they make giant asses out of themselves.
Bye Phish

Posted - 05/27/2004 : 07:30:29 i have a bad feeling that this will mean that more hippies will now find their way to Primus shows. it had already begun, but now the floodgates will be open. i went to UMASS Amherst so i have some tolerance. that was almost ten years ago and my super powers are now fading.

Posted - 05/26/2004 : 18:06:49 I don't like the Dead either, which is why I find Phish particularly annoying. What I meant (I guess) was there is already a band who does that jam style of hippydom justice. We REALLY don't need two.
Kathryn, yep, I am from Middlebury, VT. My mom still lives in the lovely state.

Posted - 05/26/2004 : 14:36:18 I am from Vermont and many people there liked them (obviously) and I never saw the point. We already have (or had) a Grateful Dead and they do it just fine.
