Modest mouse (good news...) Ween DVD Wilco (foxtrot) Polyphonic Spree (beginning...) Travis (invisible band)

The Minus 5 isn't half of Wilco, but several members of that band play on Down with Wilco. I'm not really familiar with Wilco, but I'm a fan of Scott McCaughey (who was also behind the Young Fresh Fellows, by the way). The Minus 5 is basically Scott, Peter Buck, and whatever other musicians they can get (Ken Stringfellow and Jon Auer of the Posies are fairly regular members). My favorite Minus 5 album is I Don't Know Who I Am, but DWW is probably a good transition for Wilco fans.

Posted - 05/22/2004 : 03:54:10 The Minus 5 - Down With Wilco. I've read somewhere it is pretty good. Scott McCaughey (he has some REM connections) and Jeff Tweedy made the record. Haven't heard it ........... soulseek.......yet.

Posted - 05/21/2004 : 19:13:46 Yankee Hotel Foxtrot! Don't listen to the Wilco detractors around here, if you like Frank Black, Wilco is in the same vein. Perhaps a bit more traditional in songcraft, but a lot more unorthodox in sonic landscapes and different sounds used on the records. It takes a few spins to get your head around the songs on Yankee, but after that, there will be all these little bitties of each song that are just infectious and you will be humming them in your head.

Posted - 05/21/2004 : 16:48:28 The only one I've heard properly is the P Spree, which seemed quite cool, maybe if you like Flaming Lips/Tripping Daisy. I can safely say do not buy Travis. They're just wrong. Don't let their appearance on the Pixies DVD fool you, they suck.
