Ever noticed how many times Mulholland comes in stuff? You've got 'Ole Mulholland', obviously, also 'Mulholland' by Stars Of The Lid; movies, 'Mulholland Drive', 'Mulholland Falls'.

OK, thats not many examples, but I'm sure there's more.

Why is this? Whats special about the place, is there like, cool stuff and things there? Or is it some randomly mysterious street? Whats the deal?

William Mulholland is omnipresent in Los Angeles. He was the engineer who masterminded the aqueduct that brings water to LA. He was responsible for reservoirs and god knows what else. I've never read books on the man. They named a street after him. It runs along the backbone of the Hollywood Hills. Lots of rich folks, including many Hollywood "industry people" live up there, so you can understand its appearance in TV and film.

there's a thing up in Mulholland.. but we don't mention its name.

no one in LA likes to talk about it, so don't ask. usually the people who do talk about, and go up there, never come back down, except in a body bag (or several smaller body bags)

I have, and I know what you mean, but I can't for the life of me remember what the reference is. [bangs head with fists several times]. Nope, still nothing, gosh darn it.
Still, a fine movie. You know what happens to guys who get nosey?

Cheeseman, speaking of "Ole Mulholland", and the background of the song, have you ever seen "Chinatown"? http://imdb.com/title/tt0071315/
