I know everyone here is a FB fan, and that makes us love eachother unconditionally. But to everyone who isn't from the U.S., what is your opinion of Americans (based on experiences <2reelers> and/or irrational biases) in general? And please don't only comment on our current presidential administration, because most of us on this site at least agree that he is kind of a putz. Just wondering.

I knew someone wouldn't be able to resist watching it after all that Michael J. Fox talk!

BTW, in Northern Minnesota, we are closer to the BTTF3 timeframe than the BTTF2 timeframe!

BLT: i know you were kidding. i was kidding right back. as i always am. a good sense of humor makes life tolerable in more ways than 12.
sadly my "good sense of humor" was overlooked due to the improper mispalcement of "LOL". glad to know you didnt miss the condeceding cadence and kept up to the band though.

i couldn't tell you how many fundamentalist flag waving americans there are here in particular, and oddly enough it shouldnt matter. what i have noticed about afew of the americans here thusfar, is that they get really bent out of shape when somebody expresses their opinion, and thats sadly entertaining.

my typing licks too fella, no worries.

floop: i never said there wasn't anything worthwile in your country, because any glass scratchin, short bus rider can see that there is. i simply said you had nothing that the rest of the free world didnt, and presuming that jealousy is the motive behind american distaste is dysfunctionally juvinile.

it's not my intention to piss you gun packers off, so i'll end by saying nana-nana-boo-boo.

i also know that america has good attributes too. it's pleasant to know that you'd presume otherwise due to a couple of posts criticising your blessed, rightous country. i have facts and history's testament to back up my critical claims.

i won't resort to childish name calling dallas. if that makes you feel "smarter" than me, then good on ya pallie. it doesn't make me any less right about my critique though. and i hope also that a trait as juvinile as envy isn't something you accuse everybody of. just total strangers you'll never meet.

and as far as being banned from istening to american music goes: c'mon, your country is becoming fascist enough without comments like that flowing from behind it's borders. keep saying shit like that and people might get the wrong idea about americans.

i thought there wasn't anything worthwhile in the United States (according to you). or were you just trying to be an ass when you said that?

If a sense of humor makes me a fascist, then call me Benito! Because I joke about your comments, that makes me a part of the problem, eh? I'd like to think I'm one of the people on this board who is most critical of America. Your condescending history lesson is not news to me. For the most part, you're preaching to the choir on these issues. How many Yankee flag-waving fundamentalists do you actually think listen to FB and frequent this board?

Since it's been established that you actually mean BTTF 2, the answer is no. That movie (the future part of it, anyway) was set in 2015. We have a few years left to go.

Kickass. After you get that tattoo, don't go around wearing a blue wifebeater or someone might mistake you for a mailbox and shove a letter in your mouth.

BLT, they just came in the mail. i decided to spend the extra 100 bucks and have them chromed. i think it looks more bad ass.

i want to have it all geared up for the monster truck rally next weekend. i get more unemployment benefits now that we just had another set of twins, so i figure i can splurge and get that American eagle tattoo. check out this guy's artwork. it's siiiiick!

Hey floop, did you get that new set of steer horns mounted on your Caddy yet? When I saw you at the Pixies show in Pomona, you said you had ordered them. You were so happy that you could afford them because you had finally finished paying off the loan you had to get so you could afford a doctor to remove that bullet from your leg. Using your grandma's house as collateral was probably the best thing you could have done-- I would have done it myself, given your situation. Still I was surprised that the cop shot you in the leg. Usually they just whiz a warning shot past your ear.

This Guy, you are hereby banned from listening to American music. This ban includes the Catholics and Pixies. Either throw away the disks or take them to your nearest secondhand music store to exchange for music by non-American artists.

Absolutely dripping with envy. But mostly moronic. I really cant think of any country in the world that doesnt have at least a couple of things that I admire. But, then again I'm not a close-minded jackass.

I cant post on this thread without mentioning that I spent about a week in Vanc/Vict for the Pixies shows and was just awed by its beauty. Its an absolute gem of the world and I hope everyone gets a chance to visit there one day.

I met and talked to 4-5 Canucks who came to know where I was from and what I was doing there. They were extremely nice and hospitable. Went out of there way to give me advice on things to do and also gave me phone #'s that I could reach them at if I had questions. It was a great experience all around.

So, when I read about the Star Spangled Banner getting booed in Canadian arenas I will at least be able to counter that news with my personal experience.

Hilarious. I hope that was a typo.

Yeah, I agree that there's a LOT wrong with American and our government specifically. But at the same time, there's a LOT right with America. And if Canada got as much international press as we do, I'm sure there'd be a list of stuff that they do wrong. But there can't be a list because only Canadians know what there capital is and who their PM is. ;)

Anyway, nice work Cult of Frank, you get a solid A for that long, informative post. You should teach a class on Can-Am relations. :) Seriously.

Heh, I think we'd give you a run for your money. We're pretty hardy up here what with the cold and the constant polar bear wrestling. But it's all made up for by watching two of the finest Canadian girls wrestling in maple syrup.

If I go back and correct my spelling mistakes, can I get that mark bumped up?

dean,

thanks for taking the time to answer some of my questions, and for being honest about it (you're the only one. aren't there a LOT of Canadians here?). not to mention thorough and well written. i give you an A-. (a few spelling errors).

i really appreciate it. and again, if my dad and i come up there, please don't fight us. because we'll end up kicking your asses and i don't want to worsen Canada/United States relations more than they are.

I was just listening to this on the porch after lurking on this thread for a few days and it seemed relavent. Of course that could've been just the state that I was in. No pun taken, non intended.

So anyways, If Canada, Greece, the United Kingdom, Spain, the South Sandwich Islands, Israel, or Pakistan, are anything like Iowa,... then we are all fucked...

I'm not quite sure what I'm talking about. sorry.
