Does anyone know how to fix scratched cd's. SR, Doolittle and Bossanova are all scratched to hell. Can they be fixed? I've always heard stick them in beer or peanut butter. |

Shit man...now I have three nuked cd's covered in all kinds of icky crap, one with the aftereffects of a belt sander, not to mention a paper cut on my cornea. Between all that an the bats coming out of the speakers, I feel like a human cannonball.

Yup, plain old Rizla rolling papers. The green ones seem to work best, I think they're the thinnest ones. You don't have to lick the strip as the gum will pick up the eyelash, grit whatever without being wet. The hardest part is actually touching your eyeball with the paper, but it shouldn't hurt.

Way I get something out of my eye works each time is to take the lid (whichever one is over the offending item) and stretch it out a fraction then place it over the other lid and it should rub off there.

I'm excited about finding an eyelash-stuck-in-your-eye remedy, because I panic when something gets in my eyes, but what is this rizla? Is that some kind of rolling paper?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, brasso metal polish on a cotton bud. The best home-made scratch remover I've seen so far. And if you ever get an eyelash stuck in your eye, use the sticky strip on a rizla to remove it quickly and painlessly :)

hehehehe...microwaves do a really cool number on cds. They crack in the most entertainng way. And those blue bolts of electricity... awesome. Like the emperor himself force-zapped them.

I dont believe ive ever come across something to save the scrathes...is this just a US thing? it cant be? the uk must have something!?

Put the CD in the microwave for a minute or two. It'll clear those scratches right off, or at least, the scratches won't be a major problem anymore.

If the scratches are just in the plastic on the shiny side of the cd, they can be fixed. there are places (the video store near my house) that have disc refinishers. they gently grind away at the layers of plastic on the bottom until all the layers that contained scratches are gone. This place charges $3 per disc. Not too bad. THere are companies w/ sites on the internet that do this service for you, but you have to pay shipping fees as well. I don't know how big Kirby, WV is but some decent sized town should have a place that refurbishes discs (usually places that rent dvds or games).
Now if the scratches are actually in the shiny material, your screwed. Buy new discs, cause the silver stuff is where the music is stored. In the meantime, put yer cds back in their cases, ya damn punk kids. no respect grumble grumble... |

They sell scratch repair kits for relatively cheap cash ($25 ?). I've never tried them, but supposedly it's only the plastic layer that's scratched and if you polish that down it should play again. Try downloading the cd into your computer. Lot's of the time it downloads with out the scratches.

You can get some machine doodad which polishes off the scratches layers, costs about €90 if that means anything to you, more than your Pixies records cost anyway.
