This is so lame.
Okay, here's the deal. Due to some controversy in the "definitely vs defenitely" thread (which we have taken waaaay off course) it seems necessary to explain to some people (mainly Little Black Francis) what actually happened.
First off, I am not the swimmer, no matter what you may have heard about it recently. The only people I am aware of being the swimmer BESIDES the swimmer were goddesstheory, and possibly others after he wrote a message to Dave saying how he had other internet accounts at his school. I don't think that MadDawg is the swimmer anymore. If he is, then I'm being totally fooled but I've grown kind of fond of MadDawg...you always need someone to keep your noteworthiness at it's highest level.
Here's where the confusion comes in. Awhile back, LBF created a character called Pananthropos Experiment, who was supposed to be a member who everyone had access to his password, so that anyone on the forum could use him to post, but no one else would know who it actually was. The swimmer was active on the boards then. So, shortly after the creation of P.E., the swimmer changed the password (in the spirit of meanness) and posted a bunch of shit about LBF. So, I got to thinking, and I created Hordak and sent LBF the password just as a forum personality we could fuck around with. I mean, come on, did anyone really take Hordak to be believable? Yes, I realize I have too much free time on my hands, but I didn't do it in a mean-spirited way. I just posted shit (using Hordak's account) that I thought people would find amusing. LBF used Hordak's account every once in a while.
Eventually there came a day (when many of you new people might remember) when the swimmer revealed himself to be GoddessTheory, and there was some speculation that he was several other members as well (MadDawg included.) So, just for shits and giggles, I made Hordak reveal to everyone that he was the swimmer. (Which of course, is false.) Dave didn't appreciate that, and he found out it was me and locked the account. (I don't blame him really, but...) I just thought it would be funny to be able to talk for someone else and make them look like a psycho. I guess the problem lies in the fact that LBF didn't hear about the ruse.
So, to everyone else there are two options. Neither of them really matter to me much, because I know for a fact that I'm not the swimmer and don't need to validate that to myself. (Although, I have been checking every now and again to make sure.) You can either believe that I am the swimmer, and concocted this INCREDIBLY detailed and elaborate ruse (seeing it from that angle I would be impressed if I were the swimmer) or you can believe that I am just glacial906. It's up to you, and LBF, I really don't know of any way I can prove it to you other than just tell you about what happened. You've actually thought I was the swimmer before the creation of Hordak, so it seems like you're a little bit paranoid.

You're right. Me never coming here again would solve the problem, in a very selfish sort of way. But a better solution is to give people like you more things to occupy yourself with at home so you're not ruining the experience for others. How are you ruining it, you may ask? Re-read your first post. I'll assume what you're admitting there is the truth (and kudos for admitting it, BTW). Basically, if you're posting on more than one account in the same forum, it's time to do some self-analysis.
Glacial, I'm of the mind that believes behavior is always more revealing than words. There's a good reason you created multiple accounts. I also think there's a good reason you admitted it. So I have some ideas for you that may help you get more out of life.
Read a book: I head that DaVinci Code is pretty good.
Play a computer game: FarCry is amazing if you have the PC muscle.
Volunteer at Habitat for Humanity: you could help build a house for a low income family.
Build Model Trains: That is very time-consuming. If space is an issue, Z-scale will give you your best bet.
Visit a Museum: As infrequently as I go, I always have an enriching time when I do. I'll bet you will too!
Learn an Instrument: I hear guitar is quite challenging.
Travel: Nothing stirs the imagination better than a trip to a new land!

Don't worry, I was saying that I don't think you are The Swimmer and hardly intending to fuel further suspicions. I had mine, but they've proven unfounded. That's all.
The sig was that "break me" one, nothing evil or bad about it, just reminded me of Jason for some reason. The talking thing was just the occasional thing like telling LBF it was a "pussy" thing to do. That seemed out of character for you, as though (if you were another personality of The Swimmer) Jason had forgotten his 'glacial/niceguy' facade when he got upset/offended.
Anyway, I don't think you're The Swimmer, I was just trying to underline that I had suspicions based on the Hordak thing and what LBF had written me, and that I've checked into it from several angles as has Dave, and we find no evidence of this. Nor do we find evidence of Mad Dawg being The Swimmer, though Jason confessed to this, so probably he didn't like MD and tried to get him banned wrongly.
But I hate to post on this thread because it just gives more attention to him and would prefer if his name not come up anymore.

Which signature was that? And how do I "talk"? I'm not trying to be a smartass I'm just in awe right now that all of a sudden there is controversy over ME being the swimmer. It's kind of amusing to me. (Last time I checked I was not the swimmer)
There is a picture of me on the "What Do Pixies Fans Look Like" thread, and the swimmer posted several times where he would have a picture of "himself." Although I don't know if it was really him or not; GoddessTheory also had a pic. If you will examine the pic of Hordak (which was fake) the address of the pic has my last name in it. Logsdon. I am not the swimmer. I am Chris Logsdon, I live in KNOXVILLE Tennessee, (not Nashville as the swimmer did) I have one daughter, another on the way, I'm 24, I like computer graphics, comic books, and am a total dork, and am attending ITT Tech this summer. (If I am another facade of the swimmer I'm the most detailed he's made up so far.) I'm sorry for pretending to be Hordak pretending to be the swimmer. I guess I should've thought about the fact that, from where all of you are sitting, it might look a certain way, much different than from my viewpoint. I didn't do it to piss anybody off. (Which was a general trademark of the swimmer.) |

While I was (eventually) made aware of the Hordak thing and do remember the whole Pananthropos debacle, and have even checked your IP several times to ascertain your connection with the Swimmer, I've not found anything conclusive to say you are him. I admit suspicions, fuelled in part by your old sig which just felt like a Swimmer-esque signature and even the way you talk sometimes, on top of your IP tracking down to Tennessee, and then by a message from LBF regarding his suspicions.
So obviously I'm not 100% convinced you're NOT the Swimmer, but the fact that you're still here obviously means that neither Dave nor myself thinks you are him. If you are, then you are certainly the most likeable personality of his.
But I think that we might have to get a bit tougher on this whole business of multiple accounts...

Do that here too eh. Perhaps I've not been here long enough, but I've never caught anyone at it. On my writing site a while back I pretended to be an abusive Spanish girl and started a slanging match with myself, mainly to practice my language, though I didn't think I'd get sick of it as quick as I did. Too, my colleagues jumped in and I didn't feel like making digs at them under an assumed name.

But I believe that you're glacial906, and all I can say is that we are all here to talk about the music of Frank Black, and of his various projects, and to share our love and appreciation for the man and his work. So lets keep it at that. There's no need for arguments, feuds or disrespect to other forum members.
I enjoy web forums, because with music like the Pixies and Frank, it's rare that you know someone or have someone on hand to share your interests with, and it's nice to be able to communicate with people on the same wavelength as you. It's a shame that some people do childish things and cause grief over things that they should know enough not to do, and in turn, ruin the fun for everybody. If we just focus on Frank (and music in general), this forum will remain a good experience.
With that being said, this is one of the best forums I've been on. The forum moderators do a great job (IMHO), and I wish everyone here well!!
