Pinball!

So much better: you can win free games, you've got extra balls, you go crazy with the multi-ball trying to win the jackpot, you can play with 3 other friends.

I suck at both, but they're fun anyway. I'd say video games definitely have the edge, though, if only because there's a lot more variety.

Yeah Kung Fu Master was fantastic. I have it on my PC.

I used to love playing this after i'd been to the baths and ate my liquorice karate belts

KUNG FU MASTER

I've recently downloaded a ZX Spectrum simulator which makes me feel 10 again (anyone remember Bak2Skool?). Fun city! Sensible Soccer. Now that was a game.

Never played that one Stu, but I used to love.......

One of the few games I could actually complete.

My favourite game...

Flimbo's Quest for the Commadore 64. This beats pinball and any other game you have ever played in your life! I guarantee it!
Anyone ever played it?

Yeah, I never did quite get into Pinball. Played it a few times but never really got into it as such.

Arcade games, however... yes. I didn't know Karnov was in the arcades, I just played it at home on my NES. Noone I know has even heard of it up til now, but that music still gets in my head occasionally.

There's a level in a game I'm playing now, called Psychonauts (heavily awesome, really really excellent if you like arcade/console games, this one's got a great story, acting, music, the works) where you are in someone's mind and everyone's mind is different of course, but in this mind you come out huge in this city and basically it's rampage except you have psychic powers and are a young boy with a devil-may-care attitude and some awesome goggles.

Oh, and I heard on eatmybomb's podcast about a site that you can go to and play tonnes of these old games and some newer ones too via the internet. Can't remember it now, but it was a cool idea.

A friend of mine was great at Bubble Bobble and Golden Axe 1 and 2, we used to bunk of school and go to the arcade, he'd play it for hours with other guys from school. Some of the theme music for those games was great, I used to love Bubble Bobble and The New Zealand Story! I had Bubble Bobble, Rastan and Rampage for the Spectrum 48K, they looked crap, even at the time-you to load every level of Rastan, I think, and I had a dodgy connection to the tape recorder, so that was lots of fun (ah, memories!). Actually, another friend recently got Taito Legends for the PS2, it has Bubble Bobble, Rainbow Island, The New Zealand Story and Rastan!!

Golden Axe.

Godlen Axe 2.

Rampage.

Raibow Island.

Wardner.

Rastan.

Karnov.

The New Zealand Story.

Absolute classic Carl. I also loved:

It was kind of similar to Bubble Bobble, and Pang too which I also loved.

Haha, that sounds like me.

Back on topic, I used to love Shadow Dancer in the arcade. IT was the third Shinobi game I think , the one with the dog/wolf.

You da man ;). If your ever in Dublin, I'll arrange a game for you with with those foosball freaks I went to college with ;). The tutors used to have to get them to go to class and stop them playing footie in the yard.

Ah, looked it up. It comes from this German word, tischfussball, which I think is basically table football. I can't remember what I used to call it as a kid. I'm the worst though, I'm a spinner.

Ah! I meant to mention those as well, it used to be like two Francs, I think, for six of those cork balls. We had one in college, I knew people who lived and breathed baby-foot ((foosball) why is it called that))?

Do you always find them in bars and cafes in France guys? They were always cool old machines like The A-Team or Clint Eastwood in Magnum Force. I have to say I love arcades, I'll play anything with a light gun.

I like the one where you roll the balls into holes to make your horse move down the race course.

I would say arcade for sure. I never bother with pinball, it gets boring. Not that I bother with either much. I prefer things where you can win money, like those horse racing games you find at fair grounds (in this country at least). I tried to find a picture of one but I couldn't.

Today I've played the Sopranos pinball.
It's in a bar where prostitutes go (I live by the hottest street in Paris). I had to try it. I liked it but it isn't tune well. The right flipper is too strong.

I have an old arcade game in my basement, a Zaxxon machine, that's will never be going anywhere cause its too damn bulky to get back upstairs. Having played it thousands of times over the years, I can say, with out a doubt, pinball is definately cooler. If I could, I'd trade the blasted thing for a pinnball machine in a second.

Pinball. It's so much more fun and you get to really bang on the machine.
PsychicTwin Posted - 04/22/2004 : 08:47:07
I'll take a solid arcade game over pinball any day.

But considering most arcade games these days...I'd probably end up sticking to pinball

Hey floop, do ya ever cheat at skeeball to get more tickets? if you take the lane at either of the extreme ends you can walk up to the goal area and place the balls in by hand! and then it's crap candy and plastic ring heaven!
