Posted - 04/21/2004 : 11:36:38 I love science, and I love that Einstein's theories have been put to the test over and over again, and they stand the test of time. I'm positive that this will prove no different. I'm still in amazement over Einstein's theories of General and Special Relativity. Unfortunately they can't test Special Relativity. The warping of time and space is hard to comprehend. They always make the comparison of a basketball on a bedsheet to show how space is warped by objects like earth. But to try to comprehend that on a 3-dimensional level is impossible.

Posted - 04/21/2004 : 11:13:41 The most impressive part of it being so round, is that I saw a bit of this on Discovery Channel, and they said that if you a ping pong ball and blew it up to the size of the eath, it would have mountains larger than Everest, becuase of the imperfections on it's surface. Whereas the quartz sphere would have much, much smaller hills. That's really crazy to comprehend. |

Posted - 04/21/2004 : 03:06:43 I want a quartz sphere. I could hang around and tell people: "have you seen that? this the roundest sphere ever made". They'll all be jealous. |

Posted - 04/20/2004 : 23:06:33 I think the coolest thing about that is the fact that those fused-quartz spheres are the roundest objects ever made by man...very cool stuff! I hope his theory is right..I think it would be cool to go back in time by going faster than the speed of light.. |
