Every year previous to this, I filed my taxes as soon as I got my W2's, so as to get my refund as quickly as possible. However, being that I am now self-employed and failed to send quarterly payments, I owed money this time. Just got my return sent in at 5 pm yesterday!

How about you.......early filer or late filer?

Canadians, Euros, and others- what day is your tax day?

Biggest procrastinator ever. :( For instance, I have had 2 days with lots of free time in them that I could have used to study for an exam I have tomorrow. Instead of doing this, I planned to wait until 5am tomorrow morning (and wake up 4 hours early) to do it before class.

I don't know how it works in the states but
how can you get back more $ than you paid?

I know this isn't what you meant, but I broke about even on my Virginia state taxes this year. Got back pretty much every penny I gave to them.

We're poor. We're eligible for almost every deduction/credit out there.

We do very well, though. I mean, me and my wife are not buying new cars every other year, but we haven't really wanted for anything since getting married.

-

The two of us are perfectly content to live out our lives 3-4-5 paychecks from being completely destitute.

Makes that vegetable garden in the back seem a bit more urgent/meaningful/fun.

Early filer, got back about $4000 which was used on credit card payment, a wedding present, and savings.

Between 25 and 55 for ...the earned income credit?

I'm 23 and have been eligible since I first filed in '99.

-

I filed about January 23rd, I think.

Apparently I didn't qualify for it. What the fuck? I think I got raped this year. It's partially because my jobs near the end of the year didn't properly take out taxes...but even then, I shouldn't have to PAY them if I deserve a full refund? I don't understand this...maybe I should have gone to a tax pro.

EDIT: Oh, apparently you have to be between 25 and 55. Fuck that discriminatory shit!

I filed my federal and state earlier this week, one local yesterday, one local today (had to buy envelopes). I fucking hate Pennylvania cause of their local taxes. I made $10K last year and only got $40 back federal, had to pay some state and local cause the bastards didn't take it out of my paycheck properly. Everyone's getting back refunds except for the guy making fucking $10K...what the fuck is that?

California doesn't even make you file if you earn under a certain level- forget what it is, but it's higher than 10k. Ahh, I'll miss the socialist benefits of living in CA.

Did you take the earned income credit? You should get back more than just your $40.

I filed about three weeks ago, but forgot to include the W-2's in the envelope so now my money will be delayed.

Take me, break me, tell me a good one and maybe I'll cry

I usually file my taxes in early April. That's what I did this year. Not right away, but not waiting until the last minute, either.

I've reached 1000 posts / So I'm too cool to be in a cult.

Posts like that make watching the little blue bar millimetre its way across the bottom of my screen worthwhile.

"They?" inquired Metzger, twinkling also.
"Us?" asked Oedipa.

Dangit, Adnan, now I am really stuck on that song. And the tape is all screwy and warped from age, so I am DOOMED!

Win yourself a cheap tray.

Used to procrastinate, when I was young and owed most of the time. Lately we are sending it in as soon as possible.

End of April.
And yes I always seem to wait til the last minute.

I better not owe any money, it would be such a kick in the ass to have to pay while our government pillages, wastes and/or somehow loses billions of our dollars. Arggghhh, makes me so irate, damn liberals!
