I was following some news stories online and came across this web page indicating the current cost of the conflict in Iraq.

As of today, the figure is at £110 Billion. The mind boggles.

"You one of those right-wing nut outfits?" inquired the diplomatic Metzger.
Fallopian twinkled. "They accuse us of being paranoids."
"They?" inquired Metzger, twinkling also.
"Us?" asked Oedipa.

To me the cost in dollars does not compare to the cost in LIVES. It's just staggering and sad to me.

I think they need to make a readjustment - the last update on their equation was in August of 2003.

Obviously, numbers like this are never accurate, and can vary wildly. I don't know even how effective they are, when the commitment has already been made. It just tends to entrench people more deeply into their current stances.

When the US Department of Defense can "lose" (as in not be able to tell us where the money went) over a trillion dollars, that's with a "Tr", and not be held accountable for it, I'm not sure there's any way to get people involved. Sure, they need to move funds to skunkworks and the like, no quarrel with that, but at least with those projects, they use a "company" name and file it several layers down, or subcontract in such a way as to alleviate the need for a paper trail. This is out and out LOST tax dollars.

Plenty of articles on this from different party affiliations, via google.
