When you type "the" in the google search engine, why is the White House's official website the first listed?

Also comes up first when you type Turnip as well!? What the hell?

When i put "the" in, i get a site called "the onion" as #1 and the white house gets #2

Damn. I thought this thread was about the musical I'm cowriting titled "The: The Musical." Perhaps when it's finished and we build a web page for it we can get the top spot on the "the" search.
