Yep, I was the 4th Quarter 2003 MVP (Most Valuable Person? Player? Doesn't quite work in retail...) for Sales at Best Buy. They gave all 4th Quarter MVPs free electric scooters. How cool is that? It's pretty damn cool, but I'm wondering; how much of a wanker would I look like actually riding this thing around? I figure it's pretty fucking awesome. It'd actually give me a reason to go outside when it's nice out, but I'm also somewhat concerned about how I'd look, especially in a college town. It's yellow. What do you think? This is the exact one I have:

Dean, you bring up an excellent point. When it gets nice outside, I'll take it for a test drive. I'm telling you, I always thought scooters were lame until I rode it for the first time...it's fucking great! It's like, the mode of transportation of the future--today! Maybe I should shave my facial hair so I look a little less 21. Or maybe I could talk the other guys who got a free scooter also to start an electric scooter gang.

Yeah, you could have Mel on the back, and if you incorporated the abov mentioned lamps and mirrors, you'd fit right in, Brighton being the home of all things mod.

I saw a guy and a girl riding electric scooters in my street 2 days ago. I think they didn't look ridiculous because they were 2. The guy alone with an electric scooter would have looked totally nerdy.
I also saw a guy riding a motorized scooter, with a plastic oil tank, just like a lawnmower. Now THAT looked awfully stupid.

I'm with Ramona and Newo. Just go for it. If it were me, I figure it would be worth riding around if it meant I wouldn't look cool. Its not like I have much of a reputation to lose. How could I, spending all of my time locked in my room listening to Frank Black and the Pixies?

Somehow the future was foretold with that picture...with my scooter, I am now complete. The battery at full charge runs about 10 miles or so...and it goes 10 miles per hour...so technically it'll last an hour of constant running at maximum speed. It's taunting me, I just want to take it out and ride it. Why the hell am I 21? Better yet, why the hell did they give these away to adults?
