The Dateline is on tonight at 8 (Eastern)...should be very interesting...I can't wait to hear all of the details tomorrow...
Here's an article from the New York Daily News:
Cobain conspiracy II Authors reexamine murder theory A new book is reheating conspiracy theories about whether Nirvana rocker Kurt Cobain really killed himself 10 years ago. Cobain's widow, Courtney Love, has vigorously denied any responsibility for Cobain's death on April 5, 1994. But authors Max Wallace and Ian Halperin, whose latest book is called "Love and Death," aren't letting up on her.
Wallace and Halperin's 1998 investigation, "Who Killed Kurt Cobain?", explored rumors of a coverup.
Tom Grant, a private eye hired by Love herself, contended in that book that Cobain was murdered with a fatal injection of pure heroin and then shot. At the time, authorities in Seattle ruled Cobain's death a suicide.
The authors suggest - in both books - that Cobain may have planned to divorce Love, whose share of his rock millions was limited by a prenuptial agreement she asked him to sign when she was more successful than he was.
Some readers were unconvinced by the scenario. But Wallace and Halperin, who appear tonight on NBC's "Dateline," claim they have new evidence, including "tapes that reveal terrible secrets."
A rep for Love had no immediate comment last night.

I think its sad and pathetic how people can not just except that Kurt killed himself. Not all the money and fans in the world could have changed that.
Leave the poor guy in peace.

Posted - 04/04/2004 : 08:51:08 Thing that strikes me as odd is that Courtney Love has in the past proved herself as not entirely allergic to litigation and yet here's some guy barefacedly accusing her of conspiring to murder her husband and not a peep out of her?

Posted - 04/03/2004 : 22:22:42 I don't wanna come off sounding crass, but when it comes to Hendrix, Morrisson, Joplin, Presley, Cobain, and anyone else in entetainment who is dead, WHO CARES!!! THEY'RE DEAD!!! You can't change that. Discovering the "truth" isn't going to resurrect them. The only thing that's imporatant is the legacy they left behind. If you build up a legacy on conspiracies, and all the negative aspects of that person's life, it becomes more of a myth than a legend. Conspiracy theories always smell funny, particularly because of the ridiculously coincidental times that they appear. I saw the thing on N.B.C. on Friday. And honestly, I NEVER KNEW a conspiracy even existed about his death until I watched that special. I always thought it was a combination of depression and drug addiction. When Nirvana were on tour in Rome in '94, Cobain tried to kill himself, and he failed. After the tour, he came home, bought the gun, and did it. There's also the factor that maybe he didn't mean to do it, but he had taken 3X the lethal dose of Heroin, and may have not known what he was doing. But at any rate it doesn't matter. He's dead. It sucks, because were he still alive, he'd be making prolific work. But then again, he might've just sunk deeper into addiction and depression, and he'd be making crap albums. But the way it is is the way it is.

Posted - 04/03/2004 : 20:04:52 I do remember the "I already feel like a junkie" quote, and I know for sure that he said "If I'm going to die--if I'm going to kill myself." Don't test my Kurt knowledge, boy! ;)

Posted - 04/03/2004 : 09:23:32 ahahahahahaha, oh man! All of this was to promote some fucking book! Yeah, he mentioned suicide in just about every interview, haha. I think the quote was more like "I seriously considered killing myself several times. Then I just said, "If I'm going to feel like a junkie all of the time then I'd might as well just be a junkie."

Posted - 04/03/2004 : 07:29:34 Agreed. The thought that Courtney was the one who kept saying that Kurt is suicidal i bullshit! He fucking said, not even 6 months before he died, something along the lines of "...so I figured, if I'm gonna die--if I'm gonna kill myself--I might as well take drugs." That's from MTV's Nirvana: Past, Present, and Future. Even if he was being sarcastic, he talked about it a number of times.

Well, yeah, of course there's a reason it's coming out now. Why? Because people will actually listen to them since it's the 10th anniversary...They'll actually be let on shows, radio stations, etc.

Posted - 04/02/2004 : 13:01:30 Hmmm. I'm not sure. Seems strange how this just happens to be coming out stronger than ever on the 10th anniversary.
If someone shows me facts then I may believe, but until then I go with the official line on his death.
To be honest I am sick of people not letting the guy rest in peace. I understand that people want the truth and justice as they see it, but I wish they would keep it to themselves until they have undeniable proof to offer. Until then, I just think it shows a lack of respect, not only to Kurt but to Courtney as well. This seems like a witch hunt to me.
