Posted - 04/01/2004 : 18:39:48 I used to like it...back when I was six years old. It's not fun anymore. I feel as though I have outgrown it, and I have better things to do with my time then mislead people on a day that they know they're going to be misled anyway. Jokes never work anyway.
In my personal opinion, there is too much suffering in the world to devote an entire day to goofing around and acting like little children. 35,000 people die of starvation/malnutrition every day. It's becuase of you capitalist entrepreneur pigs that we're letting this happen. Takes about one-fortieth of Bill Gate's wealth to afford money required to solve the this disgusting horror in rural countries like Africa and Asia. This has been going on for too long. 8 MILLION South African people were predicted to die last year. This is sick. The unbelievably high figure doesn't even refer to all of Africa.
My friends are moving away. Relationships are deteriorating. Children are starving. And we are amusing ourselves.
EDIT: It's April 2nd now. I have been requested not to complain anymore.

The tradition of a day where everyone makes childish and stupid jokes goes back to the beginning of human civilisation. Masters pretending to be servants and vice versa. CultOfFranks pretending they're the Swimmers. Of course it's stupid. But by playing these stupid games, we realize that our everyday lives and concerns are stupid, I mean, we're all gonna die anyway, rich or poor. So, in a sense, it helps paeople take their heads out of their everyday businesses and look around. I think it makes them more aware to the problems of African children etc. - at least to a certain extent.
This is one of the most intelligent, thought-provoking things I have ever read. Adnan, you are one of my top six favorite forum members. Thank you for making this thread interesting to read (well, for me, anyway, in my own personal humble opinion) despite that it originated from me just "bitching" about my own petty personal distastes and problems, as Ebb meritoriously made clear.
I have a theory that everyone is ignorant in some field; it can't be prevented. No one can know everything about everything. However, the right people can prevent exposing their ignorance by not voicing opinions of subjects on which they know nothing.

Suffering plays jokes on Steak And Sabre, because they're neighbors on the album.

How can they f*cking do that when they're STARVING!!!!! Stupid f*ckin' starving people. They're supposed to sit around and not do anything.
By the way, Icecream, are you using Windows operating system? |

Posted - 04/02/2004 : 07:58:51 See, I think it'd be cooler if like, say, each news network had their own designated April Fools day that was on a different day each year, and they'd print or report false information, only to reveal that it was a joke the next day. That's what I thought was going on when MTV.com printed the Pixies reunion article originally.
