Two separate topics...

I just saw the new Kevin Smith movie Jersey Girl. I had to drive 2 hours out of the sticks to get to a real movie theatre and I have to say it was worth it.

Anyone else see this movie? Any thoughts?

I'm a huge fan of Smith and follow all his movies. I thought the movie was really good, but probably not great or whatever. I cried, I laughed, I saw the flaws, I'm going to actually buy this movie. I obviously rarely go to the movies and shit but I'm glad I saw this...

Anyway, I suck at critiquing shit anyway...

As for the demise of humanity, I hate the cities that are near to me. Everyone sucks...

Crossing the street to the movie theatre I see about 3 cars drive by, almost hit people, honk the horn, give the finger and yell fuck you and flick them off... great

I have to wait in a chain restaurant for 2 hours before the movie starts... oh my god, where do these people come from?

I feel like a fucking alien. Am I the only one in this state that is remotely mature or intelligent?

I can't begin to describe how ridiculously retarded all the people I saw tonight were, I guess that's the reason I stay in the hills.

I probably eyed 5000 people tonight on 4 hours and maybe 1% seemed remotely similar to me in that they had a conscience...

I mean, my life is not worth anymore than anyone else's but am I the only one who is surrounded predominantly by idiotic fucktards...

Why are people so fucking ridiculously stupid?

The world is in shambles. I'm going back to being a misanthropic hermit, that way I don't hurt anyone.

Sorry for the lack of details and esoteric and open ended remarks, I'm not much of a linguist, and I can't report my thoughts easily, but what the fuck is going on in this world? Maybe I am in the wrong place, but I can't imagine socializing with these people I observe in public places: places to eat, movie theatre's. the sidewalk, the road, stores...

the whole world is fucked and life is meaningless... I'm begining to think this is true...

anyway...

Goodbye

8 million isn't a bad opening weekend for a Kevin Smith film. I mean, jeez, Mallrats grossed something like 1 million total, and Chasing Amy was only like 12 million. The last couple films have made around 30 million total, so it looks like this is heading in that same overall box office direction. I bet it fucking sucks, though. God, are Smith's movies lame. I can't believe I used to be such a fan of his work. He's such a poor filmmaker.

Kevin Smith's movies were funny and witty until I was about 21. Then I noticed how contrived the dialog is, how sophomoric the humor is, and how thin the stories are. I don't care whether I ever see the new film or not. I've come to admire the Coen Brothers a lot more than Smith, and will probably see Ladykillers this weekend.

He did a good job in this movie, but you are right, he still is himself, how is that his preordained his fault? to be thyself?

I really didn't like the 1st scooby doo movie (well, at least the concept of it, I never saw it.) What is this jersey girl? I don't pay attention. I don't have TV. I'm too busy listening to the funk band in my head. OHHH, i see now.
LBF: if you say the movie was worth it, I'm all over that like stink on shit. But I couldn't read all of your words up top. My attention is drifting. sorry...

On the Jersey Girl thing, I'm avoiding seeing it because it looks godawful. I'm a huge fan of the first three films and dogma was alright, jay and silent bob=bleh. So is it as bad as dogma or jay and silent bob?

8.3$ Million this weekend, not a good opening...

Scooby Doo did 30$ Million...

That just goes to show you that you can't fuck with scooby-doo or scrappy too

That show was M.A.S.K., as in Mobile Armored Strike Kommand. At least it was here in the States. It was produced by DIC, an animation studio headquartered in France, so maybe it IS Masque in other parts of the world. Ah, to have back the youth I misspent reading the credits on those damn cartoons...

Okay, so I just did some thinking about that freshman yesr and I've come to the conclusion that Virginia as a place wasn't the problem. I felt that way because I have unipolar depression. I don't actually know what your problem is, Little Black Francis, but it probably has nothing to do with Virgiia. Please ignore my previous, and current post. And go west.

Wasn't there a movie or a tv special already from the eighties or nineties where at the end michael turned into a giant space ship/robot, with kids controlling him, and then he fought Joe Pesci? Even as I write that it sounds delusional and rediculous, but I distincting remember watching this on VH1. Let me check on that....

Okay, a quick visit to IMDB reveals that this movie was called Moonwalker, and besides turning into a robot and a spaceship that little kids played around inside of, he also became a car. And Pesci's character was called Mr.Big. And he wanted to get kids hooked on drugs. Cause he's evil. God damn, I thought Jackson was supposed to be a creative person, an 'artist'. What the hell crap is that? Robot-spaceship-car my ass.

Back on topic, Little Black Francis, the reason that you feel so horrible is because you live in Virginia. I lived in Virginia for one year while I was going to William and Mary and I felt the exact same way the entire time. So I transferred to NYU, and life became a billion times better. Go North, young man! Or West. Or where ever. Just leave that place. Its abominable.

Or you could stop being a whiny bastard and do something about it. Just cos you live somewhere like that doesn't mean everyone does. MOVE or just don't go into the cities.

And yeah life sucks but what are you going to do? It's better to live this shit life until it's over, rather than doing anything fucked up to yourself.
Adnan_le_Terrible Posted - 03/28/2004 : 01:19:04
Well, perhaps you should try to understand that the world depends on how you see it. Aren't there moments when you don't think everyone's an asshole etc ? I think that people who say they've had enough of life in fact complain because they haven't had enough... They don't want less, they want more.
