According to Billboard, 'plans are afoot for MacGowan to rejoin the Pogues for a summer U.S. tour, although at deadline no details could be confirmed'.

Btw, the Pogues' career presents some interesting similarities with the Pixies' one. MacGowan formed the Pogues in the mid-80's, one or two years before our beloved Charles Thompson formed his gang, and both bands splitted up around the same time, in the early 90's. Now they're both preparing a US tour...

Also, though less prolific, MacGowan's solo career is as interesting as CT's one, IMO. His first album, 'The Snake', blends rock'n'roll and folk music in a terrific, amazing way. 'The Church of the Holy Spook' and 'Mexican Funeral in Paris' are among my favorite rock songs ever.

Shanemacgowan.com has a couple Japan dates listed but nothing more.

Fixed teeth?

Isn't there some rule against that?

So, needless to say, if you were waiting around with five bucks in your hand waiting to buy my upcoming brochure Understanding Poop, you can put that five bucks away, 'cause it ain't happenin.

They toured a lot together recently enough but the states is a big one. Shane left them coz he wasnt able to travel well and coz the band were sobering up whereas he wasnt evidently. Didnt think they would make the States. Lets hope he doesnt pop his clogs on the plane. Also he is getting a whole new set of teeth. He can afford it now due to the reunion gigs with The Pogues. Wont he look handsome....

Hang on to your Taco!

Yes, it was last year methinks.

Christmas tour around London and environs i thought.

Good to hear.
I was just thinking this morning about working up If I Should Fall as part of my acoustic set.

Poor old Shane. I don't think he'll make it to the states until someone invents a prosthetic liver.

I was working in a hotel shop a couple of years ago, and MacGowan came in. I looked up and, seeing him from behind, though he was some dodgy, drunkard geezer! Actually, the drunk part is likely to be true (tee-hee!)

Just in passing, Shane McGowan is playing in Newcastle tonight, and brilliant acoustic indie-popsters Moses are supporting. It needed to be said.

I think they played some reunion shows around Xmas 2002.

I saw the Pogues at Nottingham Rock City in 1988. Probably one of the best gigs I've seen. I swear Shane MacGowan drank an entire bottle of whiskey during the performance. It must have rubbed off on me because I drank copious pints of green (yes, green) beer. God knows what they put in it but we didn't ask and didn't care.

Never jumped around as much as I did at that gig. I was knackered the next day.

What teeth? I actually didn't see any teeth. His wife (or girlfriend, can't remember) is really a hero.

Everything is new.

I saw a documentary about MacGowan on TV. I never saw a guy drink that much of gin in my life. For him, it's like orange juice.

Yeah, but have you seen his teeth?
I'm sure that guy must be about 90% alcohol now... but still, what a band the Pogues were...

Yes they did. 3 or 4 years ago, Shane joined the rest of the band for a short reunion tour, which amounted to 8 or 10 shows in England and Ireland if I remember well.
