Posted - 03/15/2004 : 12:28:00 High am going to London for two nights this Friday (19th). Can anyone offer their opinions on the following club nights:
Bedrock @ Metro The Dark Stuff @ The Verge The Queen Is Dead @ The Borderline Pump Up The Volume @ The Underworld Silver @ Camden Underworld Sexy Motherf*cker Upstairs @ The Garage International Hi-Fi @ The Garage Stay Beautiful @ Wicked Collide-A-Scope @ The Macadam Building Afterskool Club @ The Quad
If anyone can recommend any other good indie nights in London, then that would be very much appreciated.
Obviously any that play the Pixies score extra points.

Posted - 03/17/2004 : 01:43:21 i definitely second the Camden and Portobello market suggestion...
also if you're hungry, pop down to Borough Market, near London Bridge for some amazingly yummy food. it's apparently the top 'tourist' destination for Londoners, and i can see why...it's probly mine...

Oh by they way, I have heard of The Blueskins but who do they sound like?
I am afraid I cannot identify them with any other band. They play a sort of thrashy blues rock with a strong bass line and dualling guitars. The vocals are strong too. |

The Queens of Noize disco is prety good and they often get some very special guests DJing there.
The only one off your list I have been to is The Queen Is Dead at the Borderline. The bands there are not normally so good but the disco is ok and it is more central so easier to get home from.

Posted - 03/15/2004 : 14:53:55 Ah you're a good son Cheeseman. Better than I obviously 'cos I shall not be with my mother. I get back from London on Sunday, early evening but then I am going to a gig so I still won't see her.
Sorry mummy if you're reading this (kim comes here sometimes).
OK I won't start with this whole 'Kim Deal is my mother' thing again.
Anyway, thanks for the recommendations. I trust you people so it's worth a lot.

Posted - 03/15/2004 : 14:36:49 I don't do a lot of clubs in London, but Silver Rocket sounds pretty cool, I think its either the Garage or Upstairs, on Fridays. Possibly. Otherwise, hang out at the Hope & Anchor, they have live music most nights, and its just the coolest little place (Upper Street, tube High&I). The Metro on Oxford St is quite nice, and the 100 Club is supposed to be good, though I haven't been. In would say lets meet up, but I'm at home for Mothers Day this weekend! (petrol station flowers then...)
