I like Scandinavian pop music pretty much (in fact, I like everything that is scandinavian, except taxes on alcohol).

I already know Kent, Mew (one of the greatest recent discoveries), Bruder Daniel, the Raveonettes, Escobar, the Kings of Convenience, the Cardigans, Jay Jay Johansson (though I think he's more famous in France then in Sweden) and A-Ha (yes, I like A-ha). If you include Iceland there would be Gus Gus and Sigur Ros as well (I don't like Bjork very much).

If anybody can give me some other band names, I would ge very grateful to you! (is this sentence written in correct english?)

Eggstone from Sweden. One of the best albums ever made is called Vive la Difference, from 1997. Then there's Ray Wonder, also from Sweden. Their early stuff is fantastic, from around '94-95. Both groups have passed away, though.

There is a Norwegian band called Surferosa. I have never heard them myself but the name is interesting

I've been listening to Sondre Lerche this afternoon. He's Swedish I think and he makes fairly good pop music. Seeing as it is spring in the Northern hemisphere this kind of stuff will go down well there now.

Komeda (first 3 albums) and bob hund (almost all albums) were great - they're so-so these days. Apocalypse Dudes and Ass Cobra by Turbonegro are milestones in rock. And of course the Hives are excellent. Check out the scene in Bergen - still great; sondre lerche, kings of convenience, røyksopp, datarock, ephemera and many more - and of course - a bunch of brutal black metal bands.

finally, check out finnish band "and the lefthanded". Brilliant way out garage-soul only finnish wackos can make. SOUL SOUMI for faan!

Well, the French ARE dirty chauvinists (like the Brits). But not pigs. As everyone knows, the Germans are the pigs.

Sorry.

When I see names like Jeroen Vos, Frank van der Bij and Anne Soldaat I just assume stuff.

I now know better.

But I have to say that it's completely weird that the majority of the french people don't want to talk english to tourists.
But I guess that's not the case with you adnan, your english is fine. (although I'm not an expert in that subject myself)

In France, we call Holland "the other country of cheese" (l'autre pays du fromage).

As for scandinavian pop, do you know that lots of the pre-fab teeny bopper songs are in fact produced in Sweden

No..I lied...you can't order records from CDON.COM outside Scandinavia
but you can request and listen to all of the bands I mentioned above if you go to http://www.spraydio.com/web/chelsea/room.jsp ...an internet request 24-hour radiostation...they got some Frank Black and Pixies there as well...
Brackish Boy Posted - 03/06/2004 : 10:54:09
The best scandinavian band without comparison is called "bob hund"...since they sing in swedish they have remained a swedish secret...but recently the same guys also started up a band called "Bergman Rock" where they sing in english...Bergman Rock just released an album well worth to be checked out...they have been compared to the Pixies but have a real originality of their own...Joe Strummer, Lloyd Cole and Graham Coxton have acknowledged them if that means anything..
And then there's Kent, Broder Daniel, Cardigans, Hives, Bear Quartet, The Plan and a few more bands that are OK by international standards...
I think you can order records from www.CDON.Com if you are interested..
Newo Posted - 03/06/2004 : 09:44:57
The Bear Quartet are pretty good too, if difficult to get a hold of.

Turbo Negro, Hellacopters, etc. They do a nice line in sleazy rock'n'roll.

Try Mum, they're Icelandic I think. Finally We Are No One is an excellent album, it takes a while to get into though.
