When i search for 'Gay Dad', predictable porn sites come up...and it seems half the 'actual' links are dead..
Anyone?

I didn't know they were so hyped...living in Canada totally removed from all major media, a friend said 'check out this band!' and i did, and i thought it was great. Super-catchy, poppy stuff..
I'm listening to my Gay Dad.........CD...huhhuhhuh

Posted - 02/28/2004 : 09:21:16 I dont actually remember any hype or anything at all about them really.
But at the time id sorta cut myself off from the world. Thought id go see them, as they were called gay dad...which was funny. As i have a gay mum!...
But apart from that and the wings..mind is blank

yeah, i saw them on their first tour i think it was, at a really dingy club, was probably the roadhouse, and everyone was really drunk, and i was blatently underage (but allowed in as my dad had passes for us), and noel and liam's other brother, the big fat one, was there walking around as though he owned the place... and everyone was talking through the whole show... that's all i remember really.

Posted - 02/28/2004 : 07:20:10 i quite liked them at the time, just about the only hyped band i've ever liked! lol! the album was good, to earth with love and joy were great tunes, and that other one, erm, jim (??) it may have been called, was a cool video, walking around what looked like a destroyed earth in a space suit... <checks cd> yeah 'oh jim'! they did come back not long ago, well the main guy did, with a new band...
actually just been looking, last news on nme was about their come-back, in 2001... i'm sure i've read something about him, he's probably gone back to journalism.
now a truly great band who are no longer with us... David Devant & His Spirit Wife! That is a shame! Work, Life and Miscellaneous (spelt correctly of course) was a fantastic album!

Posted - 02/28/2004 : 04:47:37 But I did remeber his name was Cliff something so I googled it with no space between gay and dad and came up with http://www.gaydad.tk/. This is not an endorsement of the music of Gaydad in any way.
-- "You one of those right wing nut outfits?" inquired the diplomatic Metzger. Fallopian twinkled. "They accuse us of being paranoids." "They?" inquired Metzger, twinkling also. "Us?" asked Oedipa.

Posted - 02/28/2004 : 04:40:45 Gaydad burst out while I was in college to an inordinate amount of hype - the singer was a popular music journalist whose name I canīt remember - and then sank without a trace (until this post that is) just as quickly. To paraphrase some of his countrymen, they were īpantsī.

Posted - 02/27/2004 : 23:33:19 They did a song "Wide open space" or something which wasn't very good or very bad either. I didn't pay much attention thereafter. Which is their best song then? I kinda like the band name though. |

Posted - 02/27/2004 : 15:57:38 Mmm, manufacture Britpop. Deservedly dead and buried. Sorry, but that band was the nadir of British guitar pop in the nineties. They were basically an experiment in major label marketing in the indie sphere. Eeuurgh.
