Hot August Night - Neil Diamond (best live album ever?)
Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust - David Bowie
Transformer - Lou Reed
School's Out - Alice Cooper
Class Clown - George Carlin (includes the 7 words bit) I have this on vinyl and it's awesome

I give 'em four in a row because Agents of Fortune wasn't too shabby either. It wasn't until Spectres that things began to sag a little but even that's a good album. Mirrors, not so much.

Heh! I think I'm in too deep though. Just ordered a copy of Blast Furnace's eponymous classic from 1971. Everyone should have a Danish prog rock album in their collection....

I'm currently enjoying a pursuit of relatively obscure early 70's prog/hard rock. From 1972:

Aftershave - Skin Deep

Budgie - Squawk

Antrobus/Flying Hat Band - Buried Together

ZZ Top's Rio Grande Mud also a decent album.

And to add to this fine list, The Late Great Townes Van Zandt.

The Kinks- Everybody's in Showbiz
still on par with their previous 4 albums, though there are a couple birdies in that run.

Stones- Exile on Main Street

Big Star- #1 Record

this because of the cover:

------------------------------
they were the heroes of old, men of renown.

That year, I don't know. It was great for Chick Corea and those guys.

After Ziggy.
The Grand Wazoo - Frank Zappa, Zappa sounds more than a little like Miles Davis
Waka/Jawaka - Frank Zappa
Let My Children Hear Music - Charles Mingus

Other albums of note
Black Sabbath Vol. 4
Machine Head - Deep Purple
'Round Midnight - Kenny Burrell

Blue Öyster Cult S/T.

They put out three classic albums back to back to back, the S/T debut, Tyranny and Mutation and Secret Treaties.
Favorite song from their 1972 debut, "Then Came the Last Days of May", which was featured on my FB.net music share disc from years ago.

The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars

Still a great album front to back. I originally purchased this as a CD in 1990 with 4 or 5 extra demo/unreleased tracks. Only got the vinyl last year. Love it still.

Definitely a couple of boring tracks on that, but you can't argue with the likes of Old Man.

Yeah Ziggy obviously. Also:

Roxy Music's first album
The Stones - Exile on Main St
The Sparks - Woofer in Tweeter's Clothing
Curtis Mayfield - Superfly OST

and people will mention Harvest but I'm not a fan, sorry.
