look. if you don't like their sound on gems like LOVE REMOVAL MACHINE or LIL DEVIL. then you ain't ever gonna like them. sure, LOVE was good and RAIN is bloody fantastic and SHE SELLS SANCTUARY is damn the best song ever. if you can't like the songs off electric you cant like the band. I'll tell you this though. they rock!

Yeah that track off Dreamtime you played didn't strike a chord with me..

Love is the best
hammerhands Posted - 07/04/2013 : 07:43:33
No, Love is as good as they ever were.

I like Dreamtime. Lots of songs about horses.

Never went that far back really. And if you go further back they were called Death Cult and before then Southern Death Cult. I have no idea what their music pre-Love album is like tbh Probably the best stuff they ever did I imagine

The lyrics on Love, the fact that they are tiny songs, is something
I've thought should be an example.

Maybe you should try Dreamtime, Pot. Or something earlier.

Let me see on the white album...from what I can remember
this is the first and only great song on there.

I used to love falling asleep to this album in the afternoon in 1992, after my physics lectures followed by several large doses of pure caffeine syrup and half a packet of bourbon biscuits.

Those tracks are both instantly forgettable for me, just not digging it. Don't come close to Love or Electric. What's a good track off the White album? (I always thought that was by Orbital, I suppose there can be more than one white album though)

i'm liking these ones from the new album (among others):

1994's self-titled (white album) was right up there for me. ceremony/good bad not evil/born into this were all somewhat forgettable with only a couple good songs per. admittedly, they lost me there for a while.....

I like Dreamtime and Love, also the song on the Cool World Soundtrack. The white album is pretty good.

The newer albums are like Sonic Temple, not terrible, some moments.

I dunno man, did they get better after Ceremony? All I remember was that album sucked ass and they were all over the place live, one of the worst gigs I have ever had the misfortune of choosing to go to. I even had the misfortune of looking a bit like Ian Astbury during that time as well, long dark hair, tye dye shirt and cowboy boots. how embarrassing!

Love album and Electric are classic albums.

yeah that was some dark days pot. i saw them one valentines day maybe that year or the year after; ian full on front snap kicked billy in the stomach and the show was cut short after about 45 minutes mid-song. it didnt really matter we were in a rare snowstorm and only a third of the tickets had actuaslly shown up. security was jumping on the stage and ian was knocking over speaker towers et cetera....classic cult, always trying to riot. haha

give them another chance. although ian's voice is starting to give. they are once again a cohesive unit. and electric was a damn fine album.

i've seen them at least 10 times. also, hung out with ian and billy briefly at a Carter USM show where they heckled carter - all in good nature mind you; twas entertaining.

This got something to do with their album 'Electric'?

I saw them in Edinburgh in 1992 on the Ceremony tour, they were terrible, never go and see them again.
hammerhands Posted - 07/03/2013 : 03:22:12
I'm still fond of them, but I don't expect to go.

I think I've seen them 3 times.
