now that the forum is coming up on 10 year anniversary... for those who have been around a long time, or newcomers, who are you favorites?
5. Mad Dawg (that guy was as awful as his skull jewelery)
4. hi_ksa (the guy knew how to rub people the wrong way, gotta hand it to him)
3. fissile (his utter dedication to spending precious hours of his life stewing about our favorite musicians is unique... I commend him for his consistency. and, managing to be as annoying, if not more annoying, than other trolls without the use of name calling
2. KOK. (his elaborate, long term sneak attack approach proved fruitful. started out as funny, joke guy, then slowly evolved into angry 911 conspiracy theorist. it was unexpected, and effective. kudos)
1. Swimmer. (let's call a spade a spade. the guy was a troll before being a troll was cool. he made an art form out of false accounts and schizophrenic rantings)

that's pretty funny Jose. to be honest Dean and I have discussed this situation. we don't feel, at this time, he's ready to be banned. yet. he hasn't really done anything to break the forum rules

floop, is there a way to censor certain words for specific board members? fissle's use of the words 'kim' and 'juicy' should be replaced with wingdings.

I don't want to post this in the "Pixie ex-wife" thread because I don't want to potentially insult the ex-wife (I haven't read her blog, don't really care, but I'll assume that she's a nice person), but Fissle patting himself on the back for bringing "someone connected to the Pixies" (the drummer's ex-wife? Ooookay...) to the forum is the most cringe-inducing thing I think I've ever seen here.

I like to dice the habanero before adding it to the simmering olive oil and onions. If I don't take the time to do so, the pieces are too big and too hot. Lip numbing is alright, but not wanted with every other bite. The serrano peppers add a nice taste as well, finely balanced out with the cashews, rice and broccoli, the latter two picking up enough of the heat of the hot peppers without it overwhelming the entire meal. |

fissle is confusing thru and thru. he's relatively new to the boards, right? why is he on the FB forum? i'd think he'd be over at the official pixies board (there IS one, right?). is he on both? does he post his stuff on each? what's his motivation? how can one be so interested in these private things without showing the slightest interest in the music itself? how is it there's a Pixies fan who finds this personal conjecture more interesting than making a top 5 list for the bacrillionth time?
KoK was the most aggressive troll. Tiven the most pathetic. hi_ksa the most daring/absurd.

Ha, excellent thread, it has been a pretty good run thankfully light on the trolls. I was glad to see The Swimmer get the number one spot, that was an ongoing/difficult one to deal with. I wonder if there's a way I can pull a banned user list outta' the database... Floop, check into it if you would?
Tiven should be in that top 5 list for sure. And this thread should be in your personal top 5, Floop.

I forgot about Tiven. though people might not think of him as such, because of his industry insider status, he was a troll through and through. trying to get people to buy other albums he produced in exchange for insider anecdotes, insulting fans, then deleting his comments like a baby. he should bump hi_ksa in my top 5 actually

Fissle is an embarrassment. I know that the Pixies are popular, but I still like to think that the fan forums would be above cheap gossip. And I think that the majority of us ARE above that stuff... but we've got this one guy who doesn't seem to care about the music (he never posts about music) and is mostly into the details of the personal lives and business affairs of the musicians.
People like that are ultra-gross because they like to tear down "the famous" while, they, as evidenced by their interest, are also totally entranced and impressed by "the famous". In other words, someone like Fissle will spread gossip (and it's not even interesting gossip, by the way) about Kim Deal, but you know that if he bumped into Kim Deal somewhere, he'd piss his pants from the excitement.

Great thread Floop, wow 10 years. I thinkl i joined in 04 or 05 so i was pretty close to the inception of this beautiful site.
Yeah my money is on fissile. Thoroughly confusing how anyone can log onto a baord every day to complain. Impressive stuff.
Oh and i know he wasn't a troll but that guy Adnan Le Terrible from way back was great fun. He had that particularly french vibe of being hugely arrogant but yet respectful at the same time. Liked that guy.Anybody know where he is?? France one suspects............ :) |

Ten years of the forum? I remember briefly being a member of the prior forum. This is a pretty good place; don't have to be a member to read it, the layout is excellent and very easy on the eyes and there's a lot of good stuff in the archives. I recently searched for some old interviews that were interesting to read now.
