I sawed it. It was awesome.

Story was not to bad considering that it was kind of a rehash of the original story. great performances from Michael Fassbender and Charlie Thorazine. 3D was amazing, didn't quite work in some places but in others it was like you were there. I think he got the space 3D sort of wrong and effectively Star Warsed it for effect. I'm pretty sure that planets and stuff tend to appear in 2D seeing as they are so far away and effectively at the infinity of your perspective so differentiating relative distances is not possible and therefore most things in space appear in 2D, but for the purposes of entertainment it's completely forgiveable.

*Possible movie geek spoiler follows* Oh and there are some definite references to 2001 in it, seems to be all the rage these days. I'm OK with that.

As for the 3D experience I did enjoy the new Spiderman trailer, works really well. I smoked a large bowl just before going in and it was kind of wearing of until that came on and the next thing Spiderman is leaping out the screen into the foyer and I'm nearly tripping out. Can really make you dizzy this 3D shit.

I'd give Prometheus a 7.5/10. I think it needed to be a little bit less fast-paced, more space to breath, a classic mistake made by plenty of film makers. Other than that it had plenty of cool sci-fi space horror shit in it to make it a worthwhile prequel to Alien.

EDIT +++++ WARNING +++++ PLEASE READ

Sadly I am just learning that the version I watched this in is NOT
proper IMAX, not sure on the details but you can find lots of articles
on it refering it to as LieMAX. I saw IMAX in 1997 in America at the
WB fun park in Orlando, full fucking 50ft high screen, 3D looked
AMAZING. Things coming out the screen and nearly touch your face and
stuff. This version we have in Edinburgh is only 35foot tall and most
disappointingly doesn't show the film in it's full 2.35:1 aspect
ratio! It looked like 1.44:1 or 1.78:1 which basically cuts a fucking
huge chunk off the film off, and I'm well pissed off that I didn't
know about it. 3D still pretty amazing, but apparently not as good as
proper IMAX. Guy on the till should have fucking told
me this when I asked what the difference was and I've probably paid a little less for RealD 3D which I think does have the full aspect ration!
