i thought i was. then i just fucking succumbed to King of Limbs. thr only slight misstep in their career was HttT. all their other stuff is surprisingly deserving of the praise.
at some point i figured a band that gets so much jizz aimed at their chest must not be nearly as good as perceived. but fuck me if in rainbows, king of limbs and amnesiac aren't fucking brilliant. Amnesiac and its b-sides are the best shit they've done, yet it gets derided as kid a lite. fuck the haters, amnesiac (and the b-sides) reign over their output as the most unpretentious, free-sounding music from a bunch of inspired, talented fellas.
HttT has it's highlights (scatterbrain, the gloaming, backdrifts, there there) and is very solid with no lousy numbers, but it feels like it's trying to appeal to SOMEBODY. like it wasn't entirely about whatever he fuck they wanted. in rainbows and KoL have that fresh feeling of these guys making exactly the kind of music they want to make.
The Amazing Sounds Of Orgy is their best song. eat it.
