Posted - 05/13/2011 : 10:49:28 I'm kind of quite enjoying the fuck out of it actually.
Lot of bands playing this kind of early 90's indie rock styles, some with a bit of synth too. Not exactly original, but refreshing, and long may it continue.
Could you describe the Pixies sound as shoegazing (some of it, in particular bossanova)?
Anyway I just discovered this band. I think they are from Texas. Shoegaze/grunge. They are from Texas and that kind of also comes across in their music, they have a similar country/folk edge to them, like Mazzy Star but with some seriously ill bass reverb.
True Widow - Jackal from the new album As High As The Highest Heavens And From The Center To The Circumference Of The Earth (possibly the longest album title I've ever heard)

Quite like the sound of this band, I love her voice. This song really reminds me of the PIxies. Good album.

http://www.myspace.com/autolux Loved their first cd Future Perfect. Their second CD, Transit Transit was a grower, but I really like it now.
I'll have to take a listen to your picks at home. My work PC won't load youtube.

Posted - 05/14/2011 : 00:38:59 These guys are getting a bit of a name for themselves around Edinburgh at the moment. I saw them play a couple of weeks ago in a small venue. It was a free warm up gig and they only played for about 20 minutes, but it sounded good anyway.

Can definitely hear a bit of a Pixies influence on Someone Will Remind You. |
