The world is having it's third official record store day tomorrow, in an effort to promote and hopefully save our much cherished independent high street record shops. Many local shops around the country are taking part in the event by holding a variety of event that include free live performances from various local bands and artists. Here is a comprehensive list of list of what is happening up and down the country.
It has a cover of a Cilla Black song (Surprise! Surprise!) and a very nice cover of the song Male Stripper by Man 2 Man, which you can listen to also for free on this compilation of cover versions that is being released by Domino records.
The Queen's of the Stone Age song is rocking, and the LCD Soundsystem cover of the Franz Ferdinand song actually sounds like them, which I suppose kind of defeats the purpose. Still, nice to hear one last new song from them before they disappear for good. I also like the Lone Pigeon track.

Blast from my past. I haven't listened to Clinic since Internal Wrangler. Cool LP. Might go find it on vinyl tomorrow. Might not. Might just blast out Smiley Culture.

Toadies are celebrating this year's Record Store Day with a free show on April 16 in Austin, TX at Waterloo Records. Toadies will also release an exclusive Record Store Day 7" featuring "No Deliverance" and a cover of LCD Soundsystem's "Someone Great." Both of the tracks were recorded live acoustic from last years Dia De Los Toadies.
