John Paul Jones, Dave Grohl, Josh Homme. Loud and good.
Thoughts?
I remember sitting in a basement listening to Fields of Marigold until I passed out.

i was a bit disappointed, but maybe i'll give it another go now. maybe they should add Roger Waters to the mix or something.

Just having a listen to Sweethead's album, forgot about this. It's the guitarist from Q'sotSA- Troy van Leeuwen's side project. Pretty nice garage punk, sound a bit like The Kills. |

I just dug this album out and re-loaded it. It's pretty good, got more depth than I recalled. I have started to notice a lot of Led Zep influence in there as well, for obvious reasons. What clever person thought of that! Grunge/Zep fusion. And it works! How could it not? I'm glad Led Zep didn't reform now, I was a bit pissed with Robert Plant for turning it down in favour of that nonsense he is doing with Alison Krauss, but if this had happened Them Crooked Vultures might never have existed. |

It was a popular Christmas present, my sister said that she was
advised from a "knowledgeable music person" that since I like
"alternative music, or like the Pixies and stuff" that she
had to get me this.
I tried listening a bit online a few months ago when I heard that
John Paul Jones was on bass and I was in no particular rush to hear
more of it.
I have a backlog of music that needs listening to, this is on top
of the next pile, maybe next week. |

hilarious. homme's the man. that guy obviously has a lot of fun making fantastic rock n roll.
homme's always had a jack bruce thing going on, but on "scumbag blues" he really lays it on thick. love it.

Saw them live on the telly recently playing at Glasto, great set, rock and roll in it's rawest and finest form. This Josh Homme geezer is a bit of a geezer. They are all geezers, especially John Paul Jones.
It was interesting watching the crowd as well, they were all like 19 years old, and totally wanking off to the line up, which was pretty awesome.
They are all like, WOW it's fucking Dave Grohl from Nirvana! Back in the days when I was that age I would have been equally WOW at seeing a member of Led Zeppelin playing live, it would be entirely equivalent, except for the fact they actually did have a member of Led Zep into the bargain as well! In my hypothetical time travelling analogy that would be like seeing Ozzy Osbourne, John Bonham and Johnny Cash. |
