I haven't seen that many concert movies. Which ones do you recommend? My favorite I guess is The Beatles Rooftop Concert. It's simply shot and put together and you get a real feel of what it must have been like that cold January day on Saville Row.

I saw that when it first came out and thought it was amazing. Having watched it again recently it was a bit of a let down to be honest.

I found it somewhat pretentious. From what I remember Robbie Robertson comes off as a complete tool. There are some good performances though, Van Morrison's being the highlight for me, that along with Neil Young's. |

I'm definitely going to look some of these up; The Kids Are Alright and The Last Waltz especially. Stop Making Sense is still good though I remember liking it a whole lot more on its release too. Bjork's done some good docs I've heard. Pray A Little Faster's got that line 'Turn it up to eleven', always loved that, Spinal Tap never gets old. Is the Scorsese/Stones movie worth looking up?
Another great one is On The Road To God Knows Where, following Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds on the North American leg of their Tender Prey tour. It's great on the boredom of touring with great deadpan Aussie humor and the Blixa rants are hilarious. But there's only excerpts of performances. Pity cos Tender Prey era Bad Seeds were especially great.
I'm looking for one I used to have on VHS but can't remember the name of. It features 10-15 segments with the likes of The Fall doing 'Industrial Estate', Elvis Costello doing No Dancing and Watching The Detectives from a show in Liverpool http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KbP7VMLVg0, Siouxsie and the Banshees doing Make Up To Break Up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPmXQ700PAA and ends with a couple of fiery Clash performances. If you know the one I mean please let me know. I'm guessing BLT will know.

1991: The Year Punk Broke is my favorite concert movie. Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., Nirvana (Not to mention a Black Francis reference)!
