Posted - 07/02/2009 : 07:44:13 Predictions for Women's Final and Men's Semi-Finals and Finals?
I'm going for Venus against Serena. Predictable choice maybe but the way Venus dismantled Safina in the Semi says it all. Great this 4th July contest will be between two Americans.
In the Men's I'm going for Roger Federer against Tommy Haas for the same reasons I picked Venus. Haas just ain't got the class to touch the greatest grass court player there has ever been.
Murray/Roddick is a tricky one. Brits have a tendancy to crumble at this home event so that'll favour Roddick I guess. Maybe Murray's different, I don't know. But whoever wins will get beat by Federer in straight sets I reckon. It'll still be great to watch if Federer can produce the genius play we've seen before.
We've been treated to some fine matches this year, the Serena Williams/Elena Dementieva Semi was a real thriller. Nothing to rival the Federer/Nadal Final of last year but Wimbledon is always the highlight of the sporting year for me.
We missed you Rafa

Posted - 07/05/2009 : 09:21:17 What another marathon. Too bad for Roddick, but he gave everyone much more than they thought he would. Just ran out of gas at the end, and Roger served so amazing well also.
Did anyone wonder about that replay system for the challenges? It seemed to me like it was not calibrated correctly, but they never show actual replays on TV so it was difficult to tell, but both guys seemed like they did not agree with the replays.

Posted - 07/03/2009 : 11:37:14 Murray was temperamental, Roddick held it together. That's why Murray lost I think. Experience counted today. The Federer/Roddick match-up might be better than people think. Federer won his 2nd and 3rd Wimbledon titles beating Roddick so Roddick may come out with something to prove.
Go Venus!

my 2 cents.
The waxworks were an immensely eloquent dissertation on the wonderful ordinariness of mankind. |

Posted - 07/02/2009 : 10:50:40 looked like Safina dismantled herself. it's a strange scoring system if world no.1 has never won a grand slam tournament. del Potro should have stayed longer. it was a great match between him and Federer at Roland Garros. |

Posted - 07/02/2009 : 10:32:20 I worry about Rafa's body being able to hold up because he looks like he relies on such physical brute force, and he wears shoes that are too small so he can better feel the court. I really was looking forward to Federer / Nadal in the French and Wimbledon...it's a shame that injuries took that away.
I would think Murray will beat Roddick with all the hype he has had this year, and the home crowd behind him. Although I would like Roddick for patriotic reasons, a Murray / Federer final would be more interesting. Haas did push Federer to 5 sets at the French, but you would think that on grass Federer will be able to knock him off without that much of a problem.

Posted - 07/02/2009 : 08:03:18 I'm not much of a tennis fan but yesterday's match between Roddick and Hewitt was a joy to watch. I wish I could play. My problem is I can't serve. A major stumbling block.
Predictions? One of the sisters will win. |
