Posted - 06/10/2009 : 20:50:49 Hello,
I have the chance to make some extra money playing covers in a small martini bar; low key music with a couple other musicians. This would be my first time doing something like this; so my question goes to anyone here who's experienced; what do you think is a reasonable price?
I imagine we'd have a tip jar out as well.
Thanks.

Thanks for sharing your opinion. What you suggested, bill, seems like a good idea, so I'll keep that in mind when everything is set up. I think the martini bar is a good place to start; I could see us playing in some other places. It'll be fun.
Thanks again guys...
cheers, a x 3 |

Posted - 06/11/2009 : 17:15:51 It depends on the bar size and clientele really, and you usually have to negotiate with the owner at each place. There's usually not even a set rate at the bar - it depends on how many people you can pull in and if they're buying drinks. If they're selling booze, they'll ask you back and you'll be well paid. Martini bar doesn't sound like a very lucrative gig. I made the best money at British sports pub type places where the crowds are coming to get drunk and like it loud.
But yeah, what bill said - negotiate a low price the first time that makes the owner comfortable and if it goes well, they'll ask you back and you can talk more about better money.

Posted - 06/10/2009 : 21:24:22 you could make a fortune, I have done this a couple of times and kept the price low so that we always had more gig offers afterwards.
You personally, should make 50 dollars an hour, I guess.
