The Federal Reserve apparently can’t account for $9 trillion in off-balance sheet transactions.
When Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Orlando) asked Inspector General Elizabeth Coleman of the Federal Reserve some very basic questions about where the trillions of dollars that have come from the Fed’s expanded balance sheet, the IG didn’t know.
Worse, nobody at the Fed seems to have any idea what the losses on its $2 trillion portfolio really are.
“I am shocked to find out that nobody at the Federal Reserve is keeping track of anything,” Grayson says.

Saben decir WEIMAR?

How so? You can declare it is, but unless you're are willing to defend how it is then your declarations are worthless. It's not an opinion based on the "love of country" (which by the way is the definition of patriotism since you don't seem to know that). It is opinion based upon "keep your nose out of my business". So, wise guy how is it patriotism "in every way'?

Your reading comprehension is not impressive. I never told astrology to shut up. I only admitted that my snarkiness is due to be annoyed by outside criticism of what I saw as internal politics. Astrology can do whatever he wants and I can make fun of him and his cut and paste ways as much as I want.
Is that what I get for extending the neighborly hand of good friendship?

But don't you agree that patriotism makes you stupid? Just as family loyalty in your analogy can make you say stupid things to nosy neighbors? You're showing emotion but not much sense. Maintaining that astrology has the right to criticise but that he shouldn't exercise it just doesn't make sense.
No one should tell the US how to behave within its borders though the US routinely tells the rest of the world how they should behave within theirs? Or do you really believe the US shouldn't speak out about injustices it sees either? What's the point of good neighbors you never see or hear from?
Ill-supported conspiracy theories? From Inspector General Elizabeth Coleman's own mouth.

Posted - 05/24/2009 : 14:30:23 In what way is it patriotism? It's not a "love for or devotion to one's country". (I'll ignore that you called me stupid.) And please point where I ever said that only US citizens have the right to criticize. In fact, I directly said that everyone has the right. Fuck. If your going to criticize me (and call me stupid), take the time to read what I wrote.
It is more equivalent to people don't appreciate other people telling them how their family should behave. Very few behaviors illicit a stronger response than someone telling a parent how they should parent. I (and once again I'm stating my reaction, not saying everyone has or needs to have this reaction) have similar feeling when a non-US citizen says how the US should behave when it is not affecting them. |

Posted - 05/24/2009 : 13:46:58 Patriotism makes you stupid I think is the point. It's ridiculous to say that only US nationals have the right to criticise the practises of the Fed.
Besides which it's a misplaced patriotism. I think an attack on the Fed is pretty much an attack on private bankers with a license to print, not the US government.

Posted - 05/24/2009 : 12:19:14 Our military bases justify you being worried about bad bookkeeping by our government?
I can fully appreciate you wanting our bases to be removed. That's a different topic. But I don't think they make you a citizen of our country. You can complain, speculate, gossip, or whatever about the US. That's your right. But, my personal feeling is every country has problems and I get annoyed by people in other countries speculating or complaining about our (the US's) problems. Some of our obviously spillover across the world, but I didn't see this one as being the case (but maybe I wrong about that). As I admitted above I'm not sure where the line between US banking and world banking is.
Plus astrology has a history of posting ill-supported conspiracy theories. |

USA 4607 Posts Posted - 05/17/2009 : 05:42:05 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (sorry, I guess I get snarky when someone from another country is trying to pump up a scandal in our country that has nothing to with them. I feel like "worry about your own house.")
But when the government in question is financing military bases in 63 different countries around the world with a total of around 255,000 personnel running them, you might be able to appreciate why people outside of your country feel like chipping in with their own opinion... With 700-800 bases worldwide, what's the point at which you would discuss the post above with a foreigner, 1600 bases? one on every street corner?

I remember when my brother-in-law cut off the overhanging branch of his neighbor's avocado tree. It was an error of microcosmic proportions. My sister nearly killed him.

Yeah, it does sound more like something you'd hear describing a state assemblyman. Or maybe you might see it that way in a local fishwrap, er... newspaper.
