Posted - 04/26/2009 : 08:28:33 I know there are some Grandaddy fans on here. Anybody hear the new solo album yet? I think it is really good but very depressing. I can relate to Jason's sadness........... this album reminds me of Elliott Smith in a way. |

side B sounds great by itself. entirely mellow and beautiful.

Posted - 08/30/2009 : 08:22:38 ive concluded, unfortunately, that i don't care for it as much as any of his other albums. there are a few songs i dig, and i'm happy that he seems happy with his new situation as an artist.. but it seems like, overall, the album is lacking in those elements that i like most about his Grandaddy records - all the strange synth stuff and unpredictable choral parts that go on forever in some crazy direction. seems like he tried to make a less produced album this time around. more organic. i like it. but i'm not in love with it
at the show i saw the few Grandaddy songs he threw into the set blew everything else away from the new album |

Posted - 08/30/2009 : 06:51:04 so, what's the word on this album? what do you all think? i like it, but i'm not in love with it. there's just something about it... too sad or something. it's just sort of a bummer. it doesn't fill me with awe and wonder. just sadness.

Posted - 05/05/2009 : 08:02:20 Thanks, that's the first time I've given Jason Lytle a proper listen. He sounds really good over the length of an album. I like that pic of him holed up in Montana.

Posted - 04/27/2009 : 12:05:53 I read this thread yesterday and then a few interviews by Lytle about Grandaddy. I haven't heard the new album yet but will seek it out. |
