Can anyone recommended a good Japanese rock band? (Why? Just. Alright?)

Also, I can’t tell if this is a good song or not:

They sound like a Japanese Fall Out Boy

Check out 5,6,7,8's 'Teenage Mojo Workout'. They've got way more than that one song. They have a singles album 'Bomb The Rocks' but Teenage Mojo Workout is way better.

Acid Mothers Temple. They do extended psychedelic explosions, pretty intense stuff.

Enon. Okay so they are only one third Japanese and have only one song sung in Japanese. Toko Yasuda, being the one third and Mikazuki being the song. Enon - Mikazuki on youtube.com

These other songs she sings in English.
Enon - Daughter in the House of Fools on youtube.com
Enon - In This City on youtube.com
Enon - Knock That Door (Live) on youtube.com

Yes. I'm on an Enon kick.

I love Melt-Banana !
ENVY make good post-hardcore screamo stuff.

Never heard Mono, although they're on an excellent label that I tend to trust.

Merzbow - I've got his album with Patton, and strangely, I kinda like it.

OOIOO. Kind of all over the place, but in a good way. Hard to describe.

Otomo Yoshihide, I have an album of his ("Episome") that is really impressive, although not the easiest thing to listen to. (Much easier than Merzbow though.) It's improv on electric guitar, with Ruins drummer Yoshida Tatsuya, and Bill Laswell on bass.

Which reminds me that there are at least two Japanese bands that I really want to hear: Boredoms (huge influence on Mr. Bungle, demented vocalist Eye later worked with John Zorn, most notably in Naked City) and Ruins.

Awesome! I fuckin' shot this!

Second Mono and Melt Banana. The limits of my knowledge were for most of my life restricted to Hi-Standard (I still hold that they rule), but I've attempted to expand and so will add:
Tujiko Noriko (not rock, more like a Japanese Bjork)
Merzbow (Japanoise - 'not for everyone')

Guitar Wolf. End of story.

Nobody’s mentioned Mono yet. They are a Japanese rock band, very post-rock and produced (sorry engineered) by Steve Albini.

Have you heard Cibo Matto? They're not a rock band, more trip hop or something. Sean Lennon is the bass player and his dad was in a rock band. They're really good.
