That's how he is when he's mimicking a Dear jimmy style letter. Is that how you are in real life? Always calling people up! We both need to relax. Ha ha.

The Leno monologue is one of my favorite Hicks things. His impression is excellent. MBC peacock, hahaha!!

By the way, ( coast ) I should probably put this in the Grammar Peeves thread but I'm too lazy to dig it up: whom

I think we should get rid of the word "whom" and just use "who" all the time, except in the phrase " To whom it may concern".

Can't stand Leno.
Letterman is awesome.
If you get a chance, check out ( it's on youtube ) when Paris Hilton was on the show a couple weeks ago. He was giving her shit about being in jail and she was a real asshole- "I'm done talking about it. I'm here to talk about my new perfume."
What a douchebag; basically saying " I'm not here to visit with you or be a polite guest. I just came to sell something."

I don't watch much of either, but when I do it is Letterman. Leno gets on my nerves, although I am not sure why.

Basically he says Leno sucks satan's cock because he sells doritoes.

I prefer Letterman's interviews, but it really depends on the guests for me. Their jokes are pretty lame and old and tired in general, I only watch if there is someone to see.

I'm a fan of www.tomgreen.com I strongly recommend checking this out, with an OPEN MIND. If you don't know about his technologically ground breaking talk show, the first LIVE worlwide internet call-in and skype-in talk show ever, all done from a complete studio built in his living. There's tons of archives of the shows with some great guests over the past year and half.

Bill Hicks' take on Leno was the cruellest thing I ever found funny (From Rant In E-Minor). I only feel pity for Leno now. So Letterman hands down.

Leno can be kind of annoying. But he is a good host, and can be amusing. Letterman was always funny.

Hey darwin, regarding the morning show... I lucked out when that was on. I went to a tutor for one school year and didn't have to be at his place until 1:00, which gave me ample time to watch TV all morning. The only guest I can really remember on it was comedian Will Durst. After the show was cancelled, it was back to Barker's Beauties and Huntz Hall for me.

Who do you think you are -- Bjorn Nitmo?
Jason Posted - 10/12/2007 : 05:44:46
I was raised on Letterman in the 80s. I'd probably be a different person without it. The New York City atmosphere was exciting and as a teenager I stole jokes from his show all the time. Now, I have no interest in watching him or any talk shows. The last time I watched Letterman was to see the Pixies. Before then, it had been at least a decade. Letterman way, way, way over Leno, though. Easily. I don't even have to think about it.

One of the biggest disappointments of my pre-adolescent existence was when I saw a segment on Letterman when they went out live into the street and it was broad daylight. I thought the show was live, happening as I watched it at midnight, and all these people on TV were awake at the same late hour I was.
coastline Posted - 10/12/2007 : 04:40:31
I'm a Letterman guy all the way, and I always have been, though I still think Carson was the master. Leno's got some great bits -- Jaywalking, headlines -- but his personality is just too big and goofy for me. I can't watch him for very long without getting annoyed. Dave, though, has retained the same level of humor and energy for, what, 25 years now? And he's brilliant at the interview part of the show. Did anyone see him with Paris Hilton this year? That was entertaining.

Please pardon me, for these my wrongs.

I think "Whom do you like better" is correct. "You" is the subject, "like" is the transitive verb, and "whom" is the object.

Not sure, though.

BLT - we're a little bit freakishly similar in some ways. May be we were both raised on TV.

I remember watching a few of the morning shows (which was a really bizarre time for his humor) and I remember thinking Letterman was funny when did stand up and guest hosted on the Tonight Show. Then once we got a VCR (a big fucking silver VCR) I use to tape the Late Show most nights and watch them when I got home from school. I even had a special tape that I would use when Leno was on, so I had a best of Leno on the Late Show tape.

Proud to say I've been a Dave guy since his morning show.

Search youtube for Leno and Letterman and you'll see how much funnier Jay was back in the '80s when he used to appear on Dave's NBC show.
