They are called The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster.

I was trying to "do" goth philosophy. Probably should stop doing that and just get a piercing instead.

Are The Cramps rockabilly? Not sartorially maybe but this is my favourite

I think it's a draw. Actually just an excuse to post two favourite songs from my distant youth.

to me X are a pure punk band, in the classic Los Angeles sense of the term. the cramps will always be "punk" for me too. social distortion's first album was straight ahead punk rock, and then they got more country influenced... and rockabillies started started to show up at their shows.

i don't know what "punkabilly" is, but it sounds like it probably sucks. my balls

Struggling to define the 'Billygoth' look. Holly Golightly maybe?

Billys and goths, no more annoying than the average FB fan.

i thought we agreed to call goth chicks death cookies. and as much as they are kinda cute, i much prefer to bump uglies with a wee rockabilly gal, or better a yet a punkabilly-chelsea girl. i would say cramps, x, social d are all punkabilly. nashville pussy, and the straycats are rockabilly. IMO.

Goths can be irritating, but not as much as all that a-wap-bap-a-loo-bop, 'look at my enormous, brylcreemed quiff' Tedwardian shit.

My brother had an album by The Comets, I think they were a psychobilly band, they seemed like The Misfits doing rockabilly.

i'm on the fence. as much as goths are completely pretentious and ridiculous, you have to at least hand it to them for creativity in dress; at least there's some diversity withiin the goth world. you know, black-cloak-girl, crazy old-lady-looking girl, fucked-up homemade-clothes-with-plastic-doll-heads-hanging-off-them girl.

granted that's worth making fun of, but i think it's funny how rockabilly comes off like it's so 'cool' and 'tough', and outdise the mainstream, but if you're a rockabilly you have to look exactly like everybody else.. with the same exact tattoos, same clothes, same dumb ass pompadour. i'd be willing to bet that rockabilly guys spend as much time in the bathroom on their hair as goth girls do on their makeup.

also, every single rockabilly guy i know ALL have some old classic car in the garage that they're "restoring".. even though none of them know anything about cars, nor have they made any progress with the restoration in years. i think it's just part of the requirement: you have to have a broken-down vintage car you're working on to be rockabilly.

then again, i agree with darwin.. rockabilly girls do have it going on (i give them a pass for dressing up and wearing 50's clothing)

it's a tough choice

The rockabillies are better dancers.
Broken Face Posted - 09/13/2007 : 08:38:06
Rockabilly kicks the shit out of goth. Goth kids are hillarious in their own pathetic way. Rockabilly guys can be a bit much, but have much better taste in just about everything than goth kids.

Though I like early Cure, I love fifties roots rockabilly. Of modern rockabilly, I agree with the Blasters (and add to them the part of X / the Knitters that shows the rockabilly sensibility). Also like Southern Culture on the Skids.

Better than the Cure? I don't think so.

Maybe you and the family need to start using Cure address labels, darwin?
