That's just NYC. But, yeah, you have a point, after its heyday CBGB's became a joke. But don't knock the rats. They're everywhere in the city.

Posted - 08/30/2007 : 21:59:08 Went to CBGB for the first time last year. Everything I heard was correct, it was a shithole. We saw a creepy old dude cleaning the toilet, some dude told us it was the owner. Didn't believe till I saw a picture of Hilly. There were rats scurrying around the sidewalk when we walked out. May have been a shithole but played an important part in the development of some good bands.

Did you know CBGB stands for Country, Blue Grass, and Blues? Interesting that it ended being known for punk acts breaking through there.

Posted - 08/29/2007 : 16:02:47 Gainesville is cool, or at least it was in the early 80s when my buddies were there. But then again everything was cooler in the early 80s. Or, more likely, I am old and boring. I saw the Ramones at CBGB's. Good times, as today kids say. But after a while that whole scene with CBGB's closing got a little too nostalgia filled for me.
