This forum had to have its own Elvis Appreciation Thread. Are you planning something to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the King's passing? I'm currently listening to the Million Dollar Session (Elvis/Lewis/Perkins/Cash), that's great stuff. One of the first CDs I bought, proof that I already had good musical taste in my youth. But I digress. Fact is, I love Elvis.

(Sadly, the only other Elvis thread I found on this board was this one:

which doesn't exactly do him justice)

Have you heard the Elvis & Lisa Marie duet?
Here's a link to the video of "In the Ghetto."
I heard it for the first time this morning and it is very nice!!

My earliest memory is of the day Elvis passed away. I was almost 3 years old. My poor mother was heartbroken.

Mine, too. It seems like such a marginal song among the cavalcade of huge Elvis hits, but I've read of several people considering this their favorite. Also, the original 45 is one of the best records of the 60s, as the b-side is the totally rockin' "Little Sister".

Elvis is cool.

Hey, well The Smiths covered it.

I like Suspicious Minds myself. And Blue Suede Shoes.

That's the only Elvis who matters.

(editing to add: I make this post with lots of love for Denis)
